Cerro Campanario is a hill in Bariloche with a view of lagoons and snowy mountains stretching for miles. Access its peak via chairlift to appreciate the Disneyesque vista. At the top, find a terrace and cafƩ, where you can sit admiring the view.
Feel the cool Patagonian breeze in your face, as you whiz up the chairlift to the mountainās summit within 7 minutes. The lift travels through tunnels of trees, before soaring above forests and lakes. Alternatively, hike to the top in just over 30 minutes.
Bring a camera to capture memories of the beautiful landscapes from the scenic lookout atop the mountain. Spot the natural landmarks beneath you, including Lake Nahuel Huapi and some of the Andean giants. In the foreground, see islands full of unspoiled vegetation.
Purchase snacks and refreshments from one of the stalls at the peak. Sip hot coffee as you stand in front of one of natureās most spectacular gifts. Enjoy a beer, wine or cocktail with friends or set up a picnic with your family in front of one of the worldās best views. The cafĆ© is on a charming wooden deck that blends in with the trees.
Due to the popularity of the viewpoint, it is occasionally rather crowded. Go very early in the day to find your own space on the summit to be alone with nature.
There is a fee to use the chairlift. Hike to the top without a fee.
Cerro Campanario hill is an 18.5-mile (30-kilometer) drive west from San Carlos de Bariloche Airport. The journey takes about half an hour by car or taxi. The hill is just north of Lake GutiƩrrez and near other stunning features, such as Cerro Catedral and Lake Perito Moreno. Take a bus from the center of Bariloche.
