Cornelia’s house is an historic building (est.1875) in a classy central neighborhood of the city. It has recently been renovated to comfortably accommodate 7 guests in 3 double bedrooms (one master ensuite), kitchen, living room and dining area. It is located about 10’ on foot to the city center through Koum Kapi seafront & beach promenade. It features private front and back yard, lounges and bbq! AC, central heating, wifi, TV, washer/tumbler and dishwasher available for a hassle free stay.

Cornelia’s house is a historical building established in 1875. It has been listed by the Central Council of Modern Monuments, and it has been fully renovated to excellent standards. Our house also features unique and antique elements, wooden vintage furniture and two wonderful murals painted by an unknown artist during the 1940s, traveling you back to the history of Chania in the previous century. It is a two storey building with private front and back gardens. The upper level is currently closed for tenants or visitors, so the ground floor premises are totally private for our guests.

Cornelia’s house is 170m2 and can comfortably accommodate up to 7 persons in 3 double bedrooms. There is one master bedroom with ensuite bathroom and king size bed, one double bedroom with queen size bed and one twin bedroom with two 90x2,00cm beds that can also be joined to make a double. All bedrooms offer air-conditioning units and they are bathed in plenty of light offering views to the surrounding terraces. Two bedrooms offer large wardrobes and one bedroom offers a chest of drawers.

Upon request, one more person can be accommodated on the sofa or a bay cot can be added in any of the rooms.

The house offers one bathroom with a shower cabin in the master bedroom and one more spacious bathroom with a bathtub. A washing machine with a tumble dryer and all kinds of essentials, towels, and toiletries are provided for your stay.

In the living room, there are Chesterfield type sofas and TV. There is an extra dining area with a classic wooden dining table, suitable for 6 persons.
The living room offers access to the lovely front terrace with outdoor dining table and chairs. Last but not least, our house has a spacious hallway with a study area in case you need to work remotely.

There is a fully equipped kitchen with a dining counter and all modern electrical appliances to help you prepare any meal of the day and a dishwasher. An extra air conditioning unit is located in the kitchen. There is also access to a wonderful backyard with a stone built oven and barbeque. Upon season and availability you can help yourselves with fruit from our citrus trees!

Cornelia’s house is located in the Dikastiria area that has taken its name from the historic Courthouse building at Eleftherias square (which means “Freedom square” in Greek). Ιn the square you can see the statue of Eleftherios Venizelos, the most famous politician of modern Greece, born in Chania. Behind the Courthouse lies the iconic Orthodox church of St. Peter and Paul, one of the biggest churches in the city and very popular with the locals for religious events like weddings and christenings.

The neighborhood of ‘Dikastiria’ ( i.e Courthouse) is one of the most beautiful areas famous for its wonderful 19th century neo classical buildings but also for its vibrant cafes and restaurants very popular with locals. The area also offers supermarkets, local groceries, bakers as well as a wide range of services like hairdressers, beauticians, pilates studios, gyms and the private clinic of ‘Tsepetis’ at walking distance. Our house is also within a 10 minutes of walking distance to the seafront promenade and beach of Koum Kapi!

The center of Chania and the Venetian Old Harbour can be reached at a 15’ walk. Alternatively, in the square you can find 24/7 taxi and a bus stop with frequent services around the city.

Getting around:
• Eleftherias Square 250m
• Municipal Market: 1,3km
• Venetian Old Harbor: 2km
• Koum Kapi beach: 1km
• Nea Chora beach: 2,7 km
• Chania International Airport: 13 km
• Souda Port: 6 km

Please keep in mind that one double bedroom is located in the front of the house overlooking the main Papanastasiou street. As this is a registered building, we have applied double glazing in the windows but it is not possible to apply any extra sound proof material.

Lovely spot
The location was fantastic. It was very close to restaurants and supermarkets. It was also an easy walk to the old port and all the sea sites. There were 4 weekly food markets that could also be reached walking. The only issues we had were a language barrier for operation of the stove/range and the washing machine /dryer. It was a bit frustrating but we muddled through. We would suggest a simple fix would be a booklet with multiple language translations. Also, the shower in the onsuite has a crack in the base and the shower nozzle needs to be mounted in the second bathroom.

Great and very spacious accomodation with all things needed and good location
Only minuses were noise at night and climate crisis resilience fee of 10 euros per night by cash. The first is understandable due to location in the city. The second one is not and is not tied to this accomodation, but the whole world that are going crazy with all these scam taxes that hurt only normal people.
