We were warned by the lady at the front desk that our room didn’t look the cleanest, but she assured us it was clean.
First, our key didn’t open the room door, so we had to get maintenance to let us into our room.
Once we were in, we were mortified.
There was mold on the ceiling, burnt cigarette holes in the blanket, exposed electrical wires, the smoke detector was missing, there was no toilet paper, the bathroom light didn’t work, and the whole place smelled like stale cigarettes.
We lasted about 10 minutes total before we went back up to the front desk and checked out. The 3 hour drive home in the middle of the night was more desirable than attempting to survive the night in that terrifying room.
We missed our event the following day and got home around 3am to avoid spending the night.
