On arriving take a taxi from the airport to Reggae Beach then a water taxi to Nevis this takes 7 minutes to arrive.
Embark at Qualie Beach Complex. Once arrangements have been made previously a hire car or jeep may be collected for the journey to the accommodation which takes 10 minutes.
Alternatively take a taxi from the airport to Basseterre where there is a regular ferry from the port to Nevis.
The property
Villa Benito is situated in a quiet area of Nevis close to local shops, the town centre, supermarkets and amenities with easy access to the best beaches and restaurants which are just 3 minutes away by car. The property is close to a championship golf course and benefits from cool mountain breezes throughout the day.
Pinneys Beach.
Pinneys is a fine beach, the longest beach on Nevis. It is on the Caribbean side of the island, where the sea is usually quite calm. This beach is almost 3 miles long, reaching from just outside of Charlestown all the way to the north end of Cades Bay. You can walk the whole length of the beach, including going past the lagoon at Nelson's Spring. And if you do walk the whole beach, you will only have to go off the sand a little way at two points, once because of a small rocky point, and the other time because of the rocks which were put down by the Four Seasons in 2005 to protect the north end of their property against erosion.
Arriving
Many people coming to St. Kitts and Nevis rent a car so that they can drive themselves wherever they want to go, whenever they want to go, day or night. It is important to remember however that driving is on the left, as in Britain, not on the right as in the US, and that you will need to get a local driving license, which is easy to obtain.
Instead of renting a car, taxis are available to take you wherever you might want to go. Taxis wait at the airports and in the capital near the ports. Any hotel can call you a taxi or book a taxi in advance. Taxis are not cheap, but they are large, so they can carry a lot of people and a lot of luggage too. If needed, a taxi can wait to take you back from a destination, or the driver can arrange to pick you up there later.
Another excellent way to get around is the local buses which run both ways on the main roads of the islands. It is best to have local currency (Eastern Caribbean Dollars) and it's often easier to have coins rather than large bills. You can pay when you get on, or pay when you get off. The driver will tell you how much; unless you are going a really long way, it's usually just 2 or 3 dollars EC. The great advantage of taking a bus is that you can stand anywhere at all on the main road heading in the right direction, and just flag a bus down when you see one coming. Tell the driver when you get on where you need to go, and the bus will drop you off anywhere on the main road or even off a side road for a dollar extra. Buses terminate in the capital, near the port. If you try to flag down a bus and it just beeps and passes you by, that is because it is full; another one should be along before too long.
Buses run every few minutes in the busiest part of the morning and afternoon, but they are less frequent in the middle of the day, and they cease running entirely by about 9 pm.
One thing to remember is that buses and taxis look similar, they are both vans. Taxis have a yellow license plate that starts T or TA, and buses have a green license plate which starts with "H" or "HA".
Ferry
Ferry boats are an easy, pleasant, and inexpensive way to get from St. Kitts to Nevis or from Nevis to St. Kitts. The government ferries run from Basseterre the capital of St. Kitts, to Charlestown the capital of Nevis, and vice versa, all day long, with fewer trips in the middle of the day. It's a very beautiful ride. There is also the "Sea Bridge" ferry, which runs a much shorter route across the channel from Majors Bay on St. Kitts to Cades Bay on Nevis and vice versa every two hours. The "Sea Bridge" takes cars as well as walk-on passengers.
The island of Nevis has plenty of gorgeous beaches for you to explore. While it is true that Pinneys Beach and Nisbet Beach are the most famous, due to the resorts that are built there. Some of the best beaches on Nevis are little known, and therefore are quiet, private, and almost pristine. These are the beaches I prefer.
The beaches of Nevis come in basically two colors, black and white. Most of the beaches that are listed here are of the white sand variety. The black sand beaches are less well known, and are due to the erosion of volcanic rocks. You can generally find these beaches on the South side of the island.
A Tour of The Best Beaches on The Island of Nevis
Cades Bay Beach –
Cades Bay Beach - Good swimming, sandy bottom, very soft, almost powder like sand. The waves break quickly here, and can be a bit high in a strong wind. The beach is just off the main road by the old Cades Bay Inn. Just ask anybody you see, and they can give you directions. As always in Nevis... all beaches are public to the high water line.
Lover's Beach –
Lover's Beach - The mile-long Lover's Beach, is a very private and secluded beach with a intimate atmosphere. The sea here is usually a bit rough, and not suitable for small children or poor swimmers. This beach is pretty, unspoiled and perfect for sunbathing in privacy. Great views of the Caribbean and the neighboring island St. Kitts. Off the main road, but can be a bit hard to find.
Newcastle Beach –
Newcastle Beach - This broad swath of soft white sand is shaded by coconut trees and sits at the northernmost tip of the island near Nisbet Plantation. It is popular with snorkelers, but has some stony sections and occasional strong currents can kick up seaweed and the sandy bottom. A great place to watch the planes come and go from the Nevis Airport. Newcastle beach is just off the main road near Nisbet Plantation.
Nisbet Beach –
Nisbet Beach - One of the most beautiful beaches on Nevis, this white sandy stretch has beautiful views of St. Kitts and the azure sea. The home of the Nisbet Plantation Beach Club, this beach is a favorite of many tourists looking for peace and tranquility. It is a great place for sunbathing, swimming, reading, or strolling along the palm-lined beach. Located off the main road through Blue Crescent Estates.
Oualie Beach –
The most popular beach spot on Nevis. With a lively beach bar, and a restaurant, most visitors wind up here at some point during their stay. This beige colored beach is lined with palms and sea grape plants. Several beach chairs and hammocks line the sand and the lawn behind it. Children love this beach because they'll usually find a friend here. Off the main road at the Oualie Beach Resort Hotel.
Pinney's Beach -
Pinney's Beach - The famous Pinney's Beach, is a fabulous stretch of beach, and the home of the posh, but touristy Four Seasons Resort. Smooth, soft, sugar-fine white sands are punctuated by coconut palms. The water, calm and shallow, is perfect for swimming or wading. Across the way, there are beautiful views of Saint. Kitts, and behind is the majestic Nevis Peak. Off the main road, by Four Seasons.
