Cozy Cabin with Trout Stream

New Build! Quiet and secluded modern hillside cabin with 180 feet of frontage along Fightingtown Creek in the middle of the Chattahoochee National Forest. Large deck with where you can listen to the sounds of the creek. Fly fishing on the trout stocked creek. Less than 20 minutes to downtown Blue Ridge and Ellijay. Stone fire pit with seating areas also next to the creek. Cabin is on the Georgia Traverse, a 390 mile 4 wheeling path across North Georgia through all the quaint towns and villages.

This new construction cabin features rough hewn wood floors, walls and cabinets and a thirty foot long deck looking over the creek, where you can sip your morning coffee or enjoy a glass of wine while listening to the soothing sounds of the stream rushing past. Or open the windows at night and enjoy the natural white noise produced by the babbling creek.

Inside the front door is a Samsung stainless steel kitchen with a full size refrigerator and a four seat high top dining table. High end Pottery Barn dishware is provided, along with Calphalon pots, pans and a lobster pot for your low country boil in the mountains.

The living room has a leather couch and matching chair, coffee table and end tables. High speed fiber internet is provided for unlimited streaming and downloads! Kick back and watch the 60" big screen tv with YouTube TV and NFL Red Zone or your favorite streaming service in 4k. The TV is on the mantle of a rough mountain stone fireplace complete with vent free gas logs with remote control for those chilly mountain nights (note gas logs are only available September thru May - otherwise it'll be too hot!).

The main bedroom has a king bed with memory foam mattress, linens and quilts as well as chic throw pillows. There is a 6 drawer dresser, luggage rack and hanging rods attached to the maid's closet. A separate 42" smart LCD tv rests atop the dresser with streaming apps. There is an en suite full bath with towels, body wash and shampoo provided. This is also the main floor bathroom with separate entry. A Westin curved shower curtain rod is installed for extra elbow room in the standard sized tub/shower combo.

Up the rough hewn stairs is the second sleeping area/loft with a king sized memory foam mattress, plush quilt and throw pillows. A separate reading nook is located at the top of the stairs containing a twin sized bed and twin pull out trundle bed. The trundle bed in particular is meant for children and the house is best suited for four adults and two children. Six adults would be too cramped.

The loft overlooks the kitchen and den areas and also has multiple windows for enjoying the sounds of the creek. There is an en suite 3/4 bath also containing body wash and shampoo.

Out the back door, there is a wide covered deck overlooking the road and stream with cedar tongue and groove paneling, ceiling fans, lighting and string lights to enjoy those cool mountain evenings. A 4-piece sectional, two seat gliding rocker, child sized rocking chair and additional game day foldable chairs are provided for your relaxation. There is also a four burner propane grill with side sauce burner to complete your mountain dining experience.

Halfway down the driveway is a stone fire pit with Adirondack chair seating and string lights to guide your way on the star filled nights in Cherry Log. A plentiful supply of chopped hardwood is on a rack behind the cabin to keep your fires going long into the night. Lighters are provided in the kitchen.

Note that the road traverses our lot, and the stream is located across the quiet street surrounded by foliage. Bring your waders and fly rod to try and catch some of the stocked trout in Fightingtown Creek. The property has 180 feet of frontage along the creek, directly across the road from the cabin porch.

Notes

- County Ordinance permits only two cars parked at the cabin (1 car per every four people). If you bring more than two cars, you may be fined by the county. We just had a concrete driveway installed up to the firepit. Please disregard older reviews stating difficulty with the driveway as the old gravel driveway required 4WD to gain access from the street. The driveway is steep and can be difficult to access if coming from the east (Bushy Head Rd). You may need to pass the driveway, turn around and arrive from the west.

- Insects are plentiful in variety and quantity on a wooded property in the mountains. We pay for a variety of pest control services for the cabin which are very effective. An exception to this is ladybugs. Unlike most insects, ladybugs do not respond well to insecticides. Please do your part to keep them out by keeping doors shut when not in use. There are screens on all windows except the two in the loft facing the creek. Please keep those windows shut.

- Make sure you have WiFi calling turned on to make phone calls. There is no cellular signal in the valley. A landline is also provided in the master, if needed.

- The hot tub is only a 2-seater and is in a suboptimal location! It is tucked behind the cabin next to the cliff face and does not have any views. Unfortunately with the steep hillside and trees, there is no way for a crane to place one on the porch. If you're like us, you'd rather have one in a subopitmal spot than not have one at all!

Things to do (sorry - VRBO blocks phone numbers and websites):
-The towns of Blue Ridge and Ellijay are less than 20 minutes away and have some really cool restaurants, shops and places to grab a drink.
-Ride the Blue Ridge scenic railway. The train provides anywhere from one to four hour trips through the mountains of Blue Ridge and up into Tennessee along the Toccoa river. We recommend you reserve early as these fill up very quickly. Also make sure you grab a seat on the same side of the train you get on…..the views are better.
-Old Toccoa Farm Golf Course - 15 minutes away in Mineral Bluff - Really nice course with great mountain views along the Toccoa river. One of top 10 new courses in 2020 by Links magazine. Currently semi-private, offering public tee times a week in advance.
-Whitepath golf club - 15 minutes away in Cherry Log - public course with modest greens fees and some sweeping mountain views.
-Pedego Bikes offers bikes, e-bikes and Segways for rental.
-Blue Ridge Fly Fishing school offers half day and full day classes and Excursions to learn how to fly fish.
-Reel Angling Adventures offers fishing excursions into Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee.
-Blue Ridge Adventure Outpost offers white water rafting, mountain biking, stand up paddling, tubing etc.
-Ocoee Rafting offers whitewater rafting on the Ocoee river with both class III and class IV rapids. You must be 12 years of age.
-The paddle zone offers tubing, kayaks and paddle board rentals along the Toccoa river.
-Toccoa wilderness tubing provides 2 hour floats along the Toccoa river.
-Adventure ziplining at Blue Ridge adventure park and zip line canopy tours.
-Horseback riding and trail rides are available through Blue Ridge mountain trail rides at the Hells Hollow Adventure Outpost.
-Mercier Orchards has fun for the whole family, including a farmers market, cafe, hay rides, winery and hard cider. This is especially fun during the fall.
-Bamboo fly rod making classes at Oyster Flyrods in downtown Blue Ridge.

Reminded us of LBL
The accommodations were great (other than a few dead insects that were on the floor that had not been swept up). The downside is that the creek is across the road. Mind you, we knew that when we booked the rental. It was a lovely and peaceful place (reminded me of Land Between the Lakes), and a short distance drive into Blue Ridge to pick up groceries and visit Mercier Orchards.

Fantastic!
This was a great place to get away and "decompress" from the hectic pace in the real world. Plenty of enjoyable things to do. Or, do nothing at all except sit on the porch overlooking the creek and listening to the soothing sounds of nature.

Cozy mountain stay
My husband and I wanted to celebrate our anniversary in the mountains this year. We brought our dog and our 7 month daughter with us. This was our first “big trip” with the whole family and our daughter. At the last minute my BIL and SIL decided to join with their dog. This cabin is cozy and while there are beds for 6… I would say 4 people is max comfort. Maybe 6 would be ok if it was children. Everything was so clean and THE BEDS WERE SO COMFY! The bedding and the decor in general was so well appointed. 10/10 experience! It was a wonderful trip!

Perfect Getaway
My husband and I came up from South Florida to do a little trout fishing. The cabin was perfect and had everything we needed. It was so beautiful up in the mountains and not too far from town. We saw deer every day and the creek was so nice to listen to. This was a great place to stay!

In the Trees
This cabin is in a great location away from the crowds. It's about 20 minutes away from downtown Blue Ridge. The house itself is elevated so that you are literally in the trees when you are on the porch. It's a beautiful view. The house was very clean and everything (including washer/dryer, HVAC) worked as expected. There's no closet space and as such, not much storage for luggage. But that wasn't a big deal. Downtown Blue Ridge was super crowded so we spent our time hiking in the Aska recreational area and having meals at home. It was perfect. The house is about 20 mins from the local Ingles grocery. The driveway is steep as previously noted but is paved halfway which helped. Would not recommend for a small sedan type car, particularly in any winter precipitation. The house is also near Mercier Orchard which is a must stop if you like apples and anything that can be created from them. It was worth braving the crowds for hand pies and doughnuts. WiFi worked fine and we were able to access our streaming platforms (Hulu, Netflix, etc) with our own credentials. You will need your own subscriptions. Great trip. Would stay here again.

Perfect little birthday getaway
I had booked another cabin for my birthday and to get away for a few days, but it had some kind of leak and the company had to cancel my reservation ONE WEEK before we were supposed to stay. I immediately started looking for a new place, with very little hope since it was a holiday week. But I found this one and booked ASAP! It was easy to get to and the cabin was as described. We loved the porch for relaxing, playing board games, and grilling. Having the creek that close was amazing for a few different reasons; the sound was beyond soothing, and fishing and playing in the water was perfect. The beds were all really comfy and the cabin was well stocked with cooking & dish needs. I read the reviews about the driveway being difficult but I wasn't too concerned as my 4runner is 4wd - but the steep portion has been paved so there weren't any issues anyway. Sidenote - There is a cute little roadside market less than 10 minutes away and I highly suggest Mercier Orchards as a stop; not just for the typical apple house stuff but the cafe too - the food is crazy good!

An awesome get away from the city life
The cabin was lovely, very clean and had everything we needed. Even though it was summer the instant fireplace was awesome for the chiller nights. The beds were very comfy. The firepit at the bottom of the driveway was well stocked with firewood and had sticks for smors. Across a quiet street was the creek which was lovely to listen to at night and early morning. The balcony has a lovely view into the tree canopy which made morning coffee delightful. We had wifi but no cell service which was fine for us as the intent was to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. There is only two things I would have changed and that is the driveway, which is a beast to get up. I was very glad we brought our truck because the sedan would not have made it up. And the second is if I could move the hottub to the balcony that would be perfect. But the logistics of that are very impractical. Laura was an excellent host, any questions or needs we had, she was on top of. I definitely recommend this place.

My hubby and I really enjoyed our stay at this location! Cabin is beautiful and very accommodating! Beautiful scenery and the creek passing along was so soothing to the ears. We didn’t want to leave! The only thing I will say is it is very difficult to get up the steep drive way if you don’t have a 4x4. The gravel makes for a challenging drive up. Hopefully it will be converted to asphalt in the future as this property is a new build! Other than that I would definitely return!

Great spring getaway
My husband and I wanted a quick getaway before all the craziness of May and this place was perfect. Cozy house, comfortable bedding, hot showers - everything we needed. My husband enjoyed the hot tub, too. We were only about 20 minutes from all the restaurants & shopping in Blue Ridge and a short drive to the swinging bridge. We had fun trout fishing nearby as well. Beautiful and quiet area without being too remote. Great place and we will stay here again!
