Property close to centre and a nice quiet base. Owner is very friendly and makes awesome north thai sausages. Rooms are ok if you like a hard matress. Walls are dressed concrete, ie a bit austere but doesnt detract at all.
I was very satisfied with my stay. I would suggest light breakfast items (cereal, apples, boiled eggs) be included with the reservation. The staff was very pleasant and everything was perfect. The location was very close to the central part of Chiang Rai. Also, the location is part of the Saturday Walking Street (weekend shopping).
I stayed at this residence with two friends. The owner is very friendly and took care of everything! He hooked us up with mopeds, have us directions to places we wanted to visit, and was super attentive. I would definitely stay here again!
This place was great, we were able to get bicycles for free from the accommodation. Chiang Rai is quite flat and only had to pedel up hills a little bit, yet the bikes also had gears so it was fine and healthy :)
We stayed two nights in A Residence. We enjoyed the people who were very friendly and welcoming. The area was also fine. The only bad thing, was the bed. It was like concrete! There was zero comfort.
We came to Chiang Rai to do some trekking and were looking for an affordable and central location. The bed was the best we ever had in a hotel. Hard but that's what we like best. The decor of the room was something to get used to but kind of cool.
Would stay here again.
Our host family was great, Our room was more than adequate. The space was generous, the water in the shower was hot although we were surprised by the hardness of the bed However we did have two good night sleeps).
The hotel is beside a high school. We were a bit surprised by the band practice at 7:30 am but it did remind us our our house 20 years ago whet our girls played in the school band!
Lovely guesthouse in a nice area, a little walk away from the local markets. The staff were very helpful and prompt with all their answers. The room was very comfortable, spacious and clean.
It was basic but clean and in good location for local events

Basic but clean & nice staff
With just one night we needed somewhere cheap and clean to pop our heads. On arrival we had a warm welcome from the owners. We stayed on the first floor so a little more private than ground but still quite loud. We were awoke by our chatty neighbours at 7am and heard their whole conversation! The room walls are raw cement if that’s your thing (perhaps painted white the room would feel brighter?) and the beds are quite hard! But for the price it was great, and clean and lovely owners.
This was a perfect place to stay in Chiang Rai. I was concerned as Im not usually a buget traveller. I was pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness the comfort and the area.
I would highly recommend A Residence and would cirtainly stay again if I ever visit Chiang Rai in the future.

Clean
Cheap and clean. Hard bed but for this price its all good! Id recommend and stay again.
After a day of talking to the employees and owners, it became very relaxed. I felt like family. Everyone that stayed there was relaxed and happy. They have bikes to ride around! That was a highlight seeing the city in that way. The area seemed secure closed gates at night. And chef Joe could cook some mean grub. When I go back this is where I will stay!
