Our artwork reflects the area and for your cool nights, a gas fireplace will light with a touch of a button in the well appointed living room.

A large boat dock out back on the canal allows our fisherman to keep their boats in the water, but on low tide watch to ensure enough water depth to get out to the gulf when ready to fish. This property is located on a commercial fishing/clamming canal in the back as well as the Gulf of Mexico in the front making it a unique property in a one-of-a-kind town. Like to fish but didn’t bring a boat, you can fish and crab right from our dock or join others on the new huge fishing pier downtown or many of the other great land fishing spots.

When the sun is setting, step out on the covered front deck to feel the breeze and enjoy the spectacular sunset view over the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. You may see a school of dolphin cavorting in the cove right in front of you or even the swirl of a black drum close enough to make you want to throw a line out. When hunger strikes you ll find everything you need to cook up mouth watering dishes and if you're a fan of the world famous Cedar Key farm raised clams, walk next door to get some from our local clam wholesaler. Cedar Key also offers outstanding local cuisine in its many casual dining restaurants. Check out local musicians performing around town including Steamers Bar & Grill and the Island Hotel.

The natural beauty of Cedar key and its slow pace allow visitors to feel what old Florida must have been like years ago allowing for very restful vacations. Whether you are here to just relax, sit and read a book, kayak, fish or just to enjoy the diverse wildlife, the FishTale Lodge can accommodate you in style.

THE LOCAL AREA

Located just an hour west of Gainesville and situated in the center of Florida s Nature Coast, Cedar Key offers nature lovers amazing bird watching with soaring eagles and ospreys and migrating birds galore. For fishermen, its a fishing paradise of Redfish, Trout, Drum and much more. Check out the lighthouse when open on Seahorse Key operated by the University of Florida who just built a new marine research facility on the island to study the diverse marine wildlife of the area. The area also has multiple art galleries and studios and two museums featuring Old Florida and the history of the area.
Everything in this "Old Florida" style fishing and clamming village is within easy walking and biking distance. From FishTale Lodge the walk to town and the city s beach is a leisurely 20 minutes along picturesque streets. The City Park offers a nice beach with a pavilion, outdoor showers, and all the facilities you need to enjoy a pleasant Gulf side afternoon. Stroll around town and watch the crabbers checking their traps, fishermen bringing in their catch and dolphins jumping from the water. Or take one of the many excursions offered by boat Captains off Dock Street to fish or sight-see the many islands that make up the Cedar Keys.
Cedar Key hosts several festivals during the year so get your reservations early if you plan to attend one as the town fills up fast on those weekends. Special events include the Seafood Festival in October, the Art Festival in April, the Small Craft Boat Festival, the Pirate Festival and a kayak festival. Cedar Key is gaining popularity during Florida s Gulf Coast Scalloping season. And Fisherman know it for the many fishing tournaments during the year.
Whether your here to fish or just want to unwind, Cedar Key is a wonderful place to spend some time and enjoy your vacation.

Nice Place
A lucky find on short notice for our offshore spearfishing trip. Plenty of parking, fish cleaning station on pier, and would recommend for anyone who needs space for a boat and extra vehicles. Pet friendly is definitely a plus as well.

A Great Thanksgiving Stay!
The property was comfortable and homey. Beautiful location and views. The kitchen was amazing and had more than enough cookware that we needed to make a small thanksgiving dinner for 4. Was comfortable for my 2 kids and 2 adults. Updated linens and towels would have elevated the stay from an A to an A+.

Perfect mini Bday/Dad's Day weekend getaway
Had a great time making memories with the family for my husband's birthday and Father's Day weekend. The location is ideal. We stay on the island frequently as locals, 45 minute drive, and loved this spacious and fully equipped home. Amenities were fantastic. One small nit pick issue was the sharp edges on the bar stools, but aside from that we had everything we needed for a very memorable occasion. The porch breezes and views were awesome. Thanks for all the roomy accomodations, we will definitely book again.

A great, relaxing stay
We had a wonderful week-long stay. Bill, the owner, was communicative and helpful. The neighborhood is lively but relaxed and quiet. We loved fishing off the back porch, watching the sunset on the front porch, and taking the golf cart around town. The house has comfy beds, a huge kitchen, and everything you could need. We really enjoyed our stay.

Nice property with accurate listing. Has one of about anything you could possibly want in the kitchen. You ar3e basically on the water and maybe 5 min golf cart ride to downtown. Rent the cart from Bob Sea the neighbor. Extremely convenient. Buddy and I took our 80+ year old fathers fishing for a couple of days. They loved the golf cart ride in the evenings with a modest roadie drink. Check out Captain Chad Osteen. Very funny and tries really hard to put you on some fish. Great time will be back

Cedar Key Family
Our family visited Cedar Key often when we were kids, that’s where Dad taught us to fish. Those memories brought my family and my twin brothers family back to the island where we could share memories with our now 20-something children. The FishTale Lodge was the perfect place to share a beautiful long weekend in October with family. FishTale is a prime location, and a perfect blend of rustic design with everything updated for your convenience. Absolutely try the local clams, golf carts are the perfect way to get around, great restaurants downtown, watch the tides, and enjoy one of the most natural beautiful parts of Floridas coast.
