Overview:
Field end started as a small barn built with friends during a barn raising. Now extended by John it is a simple, stylish, underfloor heated 2 bedroom cabin. With a deck that extends into the field at the back, a hammock and a BBQ, it is immersed in surrounding Cotswold countryside. We are dog friendly and have ample parking. Thirty minutes drive to Oxford, three minutes drive to the village of Great Tew and Soho Farmhouse, Field End is well connected for exploring the surrounding rural area. There are two other properties on site, we live in one and the other is called The Artists House and can be booked in conjunction with Field end to sleep a total of 12 guests. Both are completely separate buildings with private entrances and parking.
Ground Floor - With a ramp up to the property and everything at ground level, the property is easy to access. As you enter the property you are led into the open plan kitchen/living area, with a fireplace, sofa and table that seats 4-6 guests it is perfect for cooking and socialising. There are two bedrooms, both King sized which can be separated into singles if required. The larger room is lighter due to a high window and the smaller has an en-suite with a shower. There is another general bathroom with a shower as well. We have a cot available if needed, let us know and we can set that up for your arrival.
Outside - Double doors to the outside which can be left open, bring nature into the kitchen/dining area. There is seating on the deck which can host 8+ guests, a BBQ, sun shade if required and a hammock to enjoy the surrounding nature. There is plenty of parking space on the property, but if you’re arriving with more than 2 cars please let us know.
The Site:
Built originally as a large playroom/nursery we extended added and re-built it as children started to fly our nest in 2015. Designed and built by John you can see the frame going up at the end of the photos. We are part of the Great Tew Estate and Field End is part of the site called Potato Town. The history of the name is a bit of a mystery but the " Town "consists of a cluster of buildings. Field End is separated by a garden, bordered by a lane and fields.
Things to Note:
Pam and John live in one of the other properties on site so help is at hand if required and after having travelled extensively in their youth enjoy hosting other peoples memorable journeys and breaks. Without being too earnest about it we are trying to reduce our waste and adopt eco friendly practices. We air dry our french linen bedding and are moving over to as much organic cotton as possible. We provide toiletries from Faith In Nature in refillable dispensers and do not use chemicals on the garden. As mentioned above, both bedrooms contain beds that can be separated into single beds if needs be, please let us know how you would like the beds for your arrival.
