Where to go & What to do:
Situated within the Cotswold Water Park near Cirencester, Windrush Lake is a perfect place from which to explore the Cotswold countryside with stately homes such as Berkeley Castle, Sudeley Castle, Blenheim Palace and nearby cities and towns including Bath, Bristol, Oxford, Cheltenham, Stow on the Wold and Stratford upon Avon. Cirencester was once Corinium, the second city of Roman Britain, and is now a lovely Cotswold market town with an excellent museum showing many Roman artefacts. In fact with more than 140 lakes and covering 40 square miles, the Cotswold Water Park offers the widest possible choice of recreational activities.
Lakeside Wake & ski: For the action - Spring Lake offering boat skiing (includes slalom skiing, waterskiing, wakeboarding and inflatable rides).
The Lakeside Brasserie: overlooking Spring Lake is the Resort's Brasserie. A perfect venue for all the family, it provides everything from snacks to lunches and evening meals. During the summer there are often BBQs on the outdoor terrace.
Fishing: You can fish on Windrush Lake - it has Pike, Carp, Tench etc... You will need a rod licence and there is no overnight fishing allowed. There is a fully stocked tackle shop within a 2-3 minute drive or 20 min walk from the lake where you can purchase equipment & bait.
Watersports on Windrush Lake. You are allowed to do any non-motorised water sports such as kayaking, paddleboarding and canoeing. If you are bringing your own equipment then you must have your own insurance in place along with life jackets/buoyancy aids which are to be worn at all times whilst on the water. Alternatively the Cotswolds Paddleboard Company can deliver paddleboards and kayaks to your door.
Whether you enjoy watersports, angling, bird watching, horse riding, tennis, luxury spa treatments nearby, visiting the animals at Butts Farm or taking the kids to Rugrats & Halfpints soft play you won't be disappointed. For the more adventurous, there are plenty of hills that offer more challenging cycling and outstanding views. Bike hire available through an outside provider - they will deliver to the lodge.
Cotswold Country Park & Beach: this is located nearby. Here you will find a man-made beach for sunbathing and swimming, along with nature walks, BBQ areas, inflatable water park, and lots more. Please check their website for opening times out of season.
• Horse Riding: The Cotswolds offers perfect riding country. There are riding schools nearby to the Watermark.
