Cisternino is one of the most beautiful italian hamlets, nestled in Valle d’Itria. The most valuable sites are the historic centre with the Norman-German Tower and the Church of San Nicola, the so called “Chiesa Madre”, the rural area and its ancient Trullos, all around. Architecture, culture, social identity and food are all traits of this town, in particular the white houses, alleys, yards and the typical roasted “bombette” and wine. This makes Cisternino a place where time stands still, together with its old traditions.
Cisternino is really the heart of Puglia, with its tradition, its culture and its beauty.
Our guests can easily discover the amazing places around Cisternino: Ceglie Messapica, historic town with a strong food and wine tradition, Ostuni, the famous Pearl of Valle d’Itria and Alberobello, which is famous for its ancient dwellings, Trullos, world heritage since 1996.
25 kms north our guests can visit the Archeological Site of Egnazia, Polignano a Mare and Monopoli, old fishermen villages with evocative historic centres and enchanting beaches. Going further north, guests can find Bari, Eastern threshold; meanwhile toward south there is the Torre Guaceto nature reserve, just before reaching Brindisi and Lecce, capital of Barocco. Taranto, the heart of Magna Grecia is located west, and then guests can find Matera, famous for its Sassi and nominated European capital of culture for 2019.
Brindisi (50 km) and Bari (80 km) are the closest airports to Cisternino.
