No smoking.. Corner House is a 200-year-old, detached, Grade II listed cottage situated in the heart of the village of High Lorton within the Lake District National Park. Corner House retains a wealth of original features such as the large inglenook fireplace in the dining area, containing a warm and cosy multi-fuel burner. With its own parking space with easy access to unload, Corner House is perfect to return home to after a day exploring the area. Once home, relax and enjoy the window seats with views to the fells - where you certainly won’t tire of the view!
The galley kitchen is well equipped, complemented by a further parlour downstairs which also houses a washing machine/dryer. A comfortable lounge with a wood burner, just off here you will find a single bedroom or cosy reading room to unwind and take in the surrounding scenery. The other inviting bedrooms, one with an en-suite and another with a king size bed, offer comfort and tranquillity, accompanied by a grand family sized bathroom. Outside of the house you will find a bench to watch the world go by and a coal bunker filled with fuel ready for the stoves.
Corner House is the perfect base for exploring the beautiful North Lakes. High Lorton has a fantastic shop and a village green with a refreshing beck less than 100 yards from the house and a half mile walk to the local pub. The market town of Cockermouth is just 3 miles away with a good range of shops and farmers’ market, while Keswick is only 8 miles away and is renowned for its spectacular setting, a host of excellent restaurants and tea rooms, anda an abundance of outdoor clothing shops. A ’must’ is a visit to Go Ape at Whinlatter Visitor Centre, a forest adventure with ropes, zip wires and nets high up in the forest canopy. Fishing can also be found nearby and pets are very much welcomed here at Corner Cottage.
