Handicap Friendly: Let us explain what we mean by handicap friendly…there is a zero-1 step entry into this home, and it is one level (a ranch-style home). The bathrooms and hallways are not up to official handicap standards and do not come equipped with special apparatus to help those in need.

Internet: There is Wi-Fi, but it relies on Verizon cellular. This is not a reliable internet connection for streaming or consistent connection. It can be very spotty.

Parking: There is enough room for 2 cars, this is a shared driveway with the neighbor so please be courteous and park in front of first shed. Please do NOT block the shared driveway.

Pets: Pets are welcome! Freshwater Vacation Rentals currently charges $75/per pet for your entire stay. Yes, we do accept dogs, yet we do ask that you please clean up after them both inside and outside the cabin. Plus, if you allow them on the furniture, we do ask that you please bring your own linens/blankets for them to sleep on. Just let us know which bed you will be using with them, and we'll make sure it is ready for your sheets when you arrive. Plus, if the pet hair starts to build, we do ask that you please run the vacuum. Generally, dogs love the water and places to explore. Pet food does tend to attract mice, so vigilance is needed.

Privacy: Neighbor is right next door.

Seniors: Come one, come all! This space is great for those over 60. Sometimes when renting a home, you are never too sure about the terrain: is the home on top of a hill, is parking on a steep slope, are there 100 steps to the beach or the unit, etc. This home gets the FVR approval for the young at heart!

Space: Ranch style home.

Swimming: It is possible to swim right on the property. There is the grass which abuts to the water. Sand and vegetation, murky bottom. We suggest water shoes while wading in the water.

Televisions: 1 TV in main room with a couple local channels only.

Towels: Yes, we provide bath & beach towels. It's always good to bring extra though.

Washer and dryer: Yes! Laundry soap is provided.

Water: Well water. There is a high concentration of iron in the water. We do have a water softener. At times, there may be a sulfur smell.

Perfect place for a quiet getaway. This property was the cleanest house I have ever rented from in the past. They had every amenity you could think of. We would love to stay there again in the future and enjoy the peacefulness of the area.

Quiet cabin
Great place if your looking for a quite, off the beaten path place to get away. Lake is great with a nice deck. Lots of floats and life jackets available. The house is very well stocked with everything you need. Kitchen has all the essentials. The town of Colon is about 10 minutes with a small grocery store and a few local places to eat .

Short pleasant stay
Our stay was cut short due to travel issues and owing to weather b4 we arrived, the lake level was elevated. We enjoyed the lake house, the view and the local area (Colon). Would have liked to have time on the lake - maybe next time.

Fantastic spot
This property was amazing. It was perfect for our little friend group. It has so much to offer, boats, lake access, fire pits, board games, etc. for a great price. The only thing was the water was extra hard and stained your skin orange. That being said we knew about the water before staying there and we are used to hard water so it really wasn't that big of an issue.

Could have stayed longer
We rented this property for it's location near the Folton Wedding Barn. Wish we could have stayed a little longer to enjoy some time on the water and throw in a fishing pole. The home was well suited for two couples. They experienced a Tornado in May and there are a few things yet to be repaired. The trees will take some time to grow back out. The neighbor hood has made great strides in getting back to to normal. There are many items to be used in the water for both adults and kids. If you will have more than two vehicles parking would be a challenge. The pier and swimming raft look new. The home was well supplied with everything you need including lots of towels for swimming. Although there is no central air the large wall air conditioner cooled the entire home very well and we had 87degrees and 90% + humidity. This place would be great for a long or short stay, even some Ice fishing.

Decent location, old house
Overall the location was decent, however the house appears to have been built in the 50's, as it still has remnants of cloth insulated wiring and appliance disconnects from that era. Definitely not sealed well as there were quite a few flies and ants around. The bathroom fan also needs to be replaced as it is making quite a racket from the fan blades hitting the housing. By far the biggest issue is the water quality. The water has so much iron in it, it smells metallic and stains everything orange. Even a brita filter couldn't handle it.

Quiet get away
Quaint little place with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It was great for my time in Colon. There are some quirks about the place but the managers are upfront about them when you book. For example it is well water and does sometimes have a slight smell to it. The bed could have been a little better, but I didn't have any trouble sleeping.

Extremely well stocked and so fun!
My pals, my dogs, and I stayed at this cabin and we 100% plan on returning. The cabin was extremely well stocked with necessities (sunscreen, bug spray, hand lotion, q tips, tons of kitchen equipment, spices, etc) and fun things (floaties, floating dock, games, DVDs, kayaks, canoes, firewood, frisbee golf, etc.). There's tons of outside seating, too, which is great because the lake is so cute! We were there on a a Tuesday - Thursday and did not see any neighbors so while there are houses close by, we still had solitude and privacy. It was 97 degrees out while we were there, but the one AC unit in the living room did a great job of keeping the cabin cool enough for the dogs and for sleeping. The property contact was super helpful and responsive as well! Really truly recommend for a cozy, fun time!!

Quiet Christmas getaway
Property is nice and quiet. We were there during a snowstorm, it was very nice. There is a lot of iron in the water which leads the water to look Brown. We were unaware of this and it was a little disconcerting. Truly, the only improvement I would add to this was to be informed of the water so that we could have brought more with us as the weather was quite dramatic and travel was difficult while we were there. The property managers were amazing! They helped with everything we had questions about. We had a lovely time.
