Desert Cave is a casino-based hotel. It is on the main strip but walking in the heat is challenging. The staff were efficient and the hotel quiet. When we were there dining options were limited with no lunch or dinner. John's Pizza Bar and Restaurant are close and it's an interesting cog in this small town. And given the size and facilities in the town, Desert Cave is a good place to stay.

Our stay was good with the exception of 1. Pieces of the ceiling fell on to our bed 2. Fire alarm went off at approx 7pm and we were the only ones to evacuate the building and there was no staff about the evacuation area to advise if it was safe to go back once the alarm stopped. 3. They advertise a restaurant on-site but there isn't one. 4. An indigenous lady was begging for cigarettes and money in the car park in the morning of our departure

It was a good experience to sleep in the underground room, dark and quiet. The restaurant served us a nice breakfast. We also enjoyed the underground display explaining the area, the history and of course opals.

Room was spacious, very clean with good quality mattress, pillows and manchester. Bathroom was "retro" but very clean with ample complimentary bath products. Took a little while for hot water to come through, but when it did it, it had good water pressure and was easily adjustable to preferred temperature. Car parking immediately adjacent to room. Will book again.
