"When I think of primitive I think of a tent and sleeping bags and a trip to outhouses or a private spot to do your business. Cabins in a Clearing is a step up; though the bathroom arrangements are as described above. There are porta potties but quite away from two of the three cabins. That isn't fun. "Overall we had a nice stay. Clean, quiet and nice location in the small town of Nelsonville. Only comment on advice related to breakfast is get there when it's planned to start as there's a set amount of food and that is it. Food was good but we were a little late getting to the first come first serve style. But overall was a very nice stay."

"We had a great time. The cabin is near tons of outdoor activities like hiking and swimming. Hocking Hills is beautiful. The cabin was very clean and the host went above and beyond with hospitality. There are tons of extras like a water cooler with hot water on tap, coffee, creamer, even marshmallow roasters. If you are looking for something between camping and staying at a hotel then this cabin is perfect. You can have a camp fire in the evening and still enjoy air conditioning. Highly recommend...

"You won’t get claustrophobia here - open, rustic decor, feels a bit like a really big, cool man cave. Two games could use some attention — small version of foosball needs repaired or replaced; the bumper pool table needs nuts to hold down the bumpers; the jute box needs repairing as well. The hiking was outta this world! Reminds us so much of many spots in Zion National Park in Utah. Ohio’s best kept secret!"

"Stayed for the weekend during Nelsonville Music Festival. Cozy set-up. Fire pit, hot tub, hammock posts all made for a relaxing stay. Just make sure that when you Google or Waze directions, you search for "Hidden Gem Cabins"... If you only enter the address, Google may take you 1/2 mile or so down the road. Property manager helped get us back on track. If you're going to be in and out, I recommend downloading an offline map of the area since service can be spotty (service at the cabin was good)."
