Enjoyable convenient stay (1 week Jan 2024) at the residential section (Sun Valley) of Hotel Vancouver in La Plagne Soleil. Large comfortable functional room, balcony with fabulous view. Decent powerful shower over the bath, endless hot water. Excellent breakfast (cereal, fresh fruit, meats, cheeses, croissant, bread, cake, scrambled eggs, bacon, salmon, coffee etc). Bring own tea bags if you prefer a brew of traditional english breakfast tea. Swimming Pool with steam room, sauna & hot tub - ideal for stretching out aches & pains after a long day on the slopes. Pool temperature was fine. Ski / Boot room on lower ground floor with large lockers for each specific hotel room (fully lockable & secure). No immediate access to slopes from boot room, only a minute walk to blue run behind hotel (via tunnel walkway next to Intersport), takes you down to Bergerie lift. Handy Spar shop across road from Hotel (near ESF meeting point & bars). Highly recommend Le Monica's (restaurant & pizzeria) with great outside decked Apres ski area overlooking slopes; also has cool pub on lower ground floor with ski/snowboarders vibe. Very good location close to the ski lifts and many good restaurants. Hotel was comfortable and staff was very helpful.

We stayed for 4 nights in March '24 and definitely did not have a 5-star experience. We found the hotel to be grubby (there were old ski clothes under the bed and in the drawers when we arrived). The room was an awkward shape and very noisy being at the front of the hotel. Breakfast was disappointing and on most mornings we were simply ignored. Parking was expensive, ski hire was extortionate (we went elsewhere). We were also shocked to be charged for the bowling/games. Overall, just dull, miserable decor and a hotel trying to be something it isn't. Luckily we got a good rate, but I would definitely look elsewhere when staying in Tignes next time.
