Off Road Renovated Cabin
Found this to be a nice, quaint newly renovated cabin in GA mountains. Clean, cute, sufficiently roomy for 5 or 6 adults.
However, there’s a a few things you should know before booking:
-Road to the house is a step, uphill partially graveled, partially dirt road. Seriously consider driving an SUV to this location, especially if you expect inclement weather.
-The water to this house is supplied by a well, not suitable for drinking, runs red with GA clay before running clearish.
Bring your own drinking water as there is no water filter on the fridge, only tap water in the house.
-Again, WATER. We were there for 4 nights. On the first morning of our 4 night stay, we woke up to no running water. Management did send out a repair service, and it held for the following day. However, the water ceased running again on two subsequent evenings. One of which it came back on, the second of which it did not and left us again, on our 3rd day in the
cabin without water through the night into the next morning when the repair team was sent back out. I believe it has now been properly repaired, but be prepared to rough it, as I quote the manager “You are in the mountains and anything can happen.”
-To be fair, they did refund half of the cost of our stay after several discussions with the mgr.
Overall, if the water is fixed and you are adequately prepared with your own drinking water, firewood (none is stocked) and an appropriate vehicle, this is a lovely place to “get away.”
