The Dancing Bear met our needs quite well. It is not a fancy place, but our room, The Papa Bear suite, had everything we needed for a weekend with our 8 yr old grandson biking the Creeper Trail. It is very conveniently located on the main street in Damascus. We never used our car but walked to restaurants, shopping, the bike rental/shuttle and a park. Our large room had two twin beds and a double bed, TV with ROKU, kitchenette with full size fridge, large table & chairs, a full size sofa, and a private bath. Again, nothing fancy but it was clean and quiet. It met our needs perfectly & our grandson thought it was great.

The Dancing Bear is a gem in the middle of nowhere. Awesome accommodations. Clean, comfortable, outside community areas. Walkable to shopping and dining. We booked this stay to have a place to go after hiking in Grayson Highland state park. Next time I’ll bike the Virginia Creeper Trail. Great little mountain community.

Elizabeth has nice rooms that are clean and homey. She personally greets you when you get there and answers any calls or text promptly. She has a nice little patio in back with 2 rocking and a gas fire feature. It also has a little waterfall barrel feature, so it is very relaxing. There is a large front porch you can sit on with rocking chair and watch the people walking down the Main Street. Close to food and shopping. Even a distillery in town. We really enjoyed staying here

The stairs up to our room seemed like they could use a little reinforcing/updating. However, the stairway was well lighted and easily navigable. We did find a previously opened bottle of water in our refrigerator, likely from a prior guest. The room was clean and comfortable, but could use additional electrical outlets near the bed for CPAP users.

We stayed 5 nighys and really enjoyed the Mama Bear Suite. It has a private room and another bed in the front room. Beds were great. Place was clean. Full kitchen. Elizabeth, the owner, was our shuttle driver as we slack-packed our way across Mt. Rogers on the A.T. she was speedy and always there to pick us up.

Clean, cozy, and convenient.
Very nice, clean, and cozy place. Close to everything in Damascus (which, of course, is not a huge town). Check-in was a breeze thanks to Elizabeth (very nice lady). I can recommend this spot!
