This ski area has state-of-the-art lifts, cross-country and hiking trails, miles and miles of runs and unbelievable snowfalls.

Zoom down majestic mountains at the Damüls Ski Area in western Austria. Peaks and fields of shiny snow stretch into the distance, punctuated by lines of spiky pine trees and iced with incredible amounts of snow. The village of Damüls boasts that it is the “snowiest village in the world.” Statistics indicate that it has Europe’s highest average annual snowfall, around 30 feet (9 meters) every winter.

Find everything that a 21st-century ski resort needs, with runs suitable for kids and beginners, to experts. Combined with its neighboring resort, Mellau, the number of lift facilities is brought up to 29, and where Damüls has 40 miles (64 kilometers) of trails, together with Mellau there are 65 miles (105 kilometers) to enjoy. Enjoy both resorts now linked with a cable car and a 400-foot-long (120 meter) illuminated ski tunnel.

Damüls’ slopes, under the peak of the Mittagspitze mountain, are wide and lovingly maintained. The ski area has a “bambini lift” and numerous ski schools for little ones just learning to ski. More than one ski school will look after small snow lovers. Try snowboarding at the 9.8 acres (4 hectares) of Burton Snowpark Damüls. The annual Austrian Rookie Challenge is held here.

Join families from across Western Europe enjoying the snow in Damüls. Ten miles (16 kilometers) of cross-country trails allow you to explore these lands with your skis. Access 15.5 miles (25 kilometers) of trails for winter hiking. In the months when lifts are running, a 2.1-mile (3.5-kilometer) toboggan run is lit with floodlights twice a week at nighttime. In the village, many hotels and guesthouses are so close to the skifields that you can ski right out your front door.

Visitors generally need to have a vehicle to get to Damüls. The nearest train station is Bludenz. Be sure to pick up your Bregenzerwald Card for access to many facilities in this area including lifts, swimming pools and buses.
