Stunning views, period town house, central Dartmouth close to river, quiet road.

Approx. 5 minutes almost level walk to Dartmouth river front this period property built in the 1860s is on an enchanting very old road which has few cars. There are three double bedrooms and sleeps six people. The house has been completed renovated in early 2022 and has a rustic feel but modern facilities. There is a brand new fully equipped kitchen with fridge, freezer, dishwasher and a utility with a washing machine. Outside at the front there is a spectacular terrace which overlooks Dartmouth. There is an outdoor table and comfortable chairs with a sun umbrella - in the summer the sun shines on the terrace all day.

The property is a short stroll to the embankment, shops & restaurants. There is a brand new gas central heating, WiFi and dogs are allowed (see 'rules'). Note that the adjoining neighbours in the dark blue house are permanent residents and have right of access across the front of the house - they are really lovely and great to talk with.

43 South Ford Road is a very comfortable, three bedroomed period town house with lovely views and use of a spectacular terrace.

The property is just a very short stroll to shops, bars, restaurants but conveniently located on the quiet South Ford Road for a good night’s sleep!

The property is on a very scenic street with many traditional period properties and with an easy gradual slope down into town (five minutes stroll). It has its own separate front door which is up an incline from South Ford Road, taking you into the Dining Room leading to the Kitchen and then into the utility room where there is a toilet and sink plus washing machine. Up the stairs there is a brand new fully equipped bathroom with a large shower and a state of the art suite with a shaver point heated by a combination gas boiler so there is no running out of hot water. A few more stairs takes you into the double bedroom with a king size bed and chest of draws, plus a period fireplace. On this floor there is a large lounge with two comfortable sofas and a single sofa chair. There is a large TV which links to all the smart apps plus a period fireplace and bookshelf. Up the stairs are the two bedrooms at the top of the house - the back bedroom looks out onto the garden (which is being refurbished) and this has two very comfortable single beds plus a sink. The two single beds can be pushed together to give a super king size bed. The master bedroom is at the front with amazing views over Dartmouth and a vispring medium sprung king sized bed a chest of draws and a large built in double wardrobe and storage area. There is also a comfortable sofa chair which can be used to gaze out of the window at the spectacular view. All bedroom windows have child locks on which can be unlocked by adults.

Bed linen, bathroom towels (not beach towels) are provided along with drying up cloths for the kitchen.

The bustling estuary town of Dartmouth.

Dartmouth with its beautiful old-world centre is considered the capital of the South Hams, famous for peaceful rolling countryside, renowned coastline, excellent beaches (Blue Flag status) & coastal walks along footpaths leading to secluded beaches. Dartmouth’s focal point is its bustling harbour and broad, wooded river.

The town is designated a Conservation Area with 16th and 17th century timbered buildings, historic narrow streets, beautiful old shops, intimate pubs and excellent restaurants. Beach lovers will enjoy Sugary Cove near Dartmouth Castle as well as the beautiful Blackpool Sands and the long, unspoilt expanse of beach at Slapton Sands both of which are approximately 10 minutes drive. Numerous attractions include the outdoor pool, pleasure cruises upriver to Totnes; Sailing or hiring motor boats for exploring the river or fishing; taking the Kingswear car ferry across to Torbay’s more bustling resorts of Brixham, Paignton and Torquay (10-15 minutes) or travelling on the restored steam train running between Kingswear and Paignton.

In August, Dartmouth hosts The Royal Regatta with funfair, sporting events, fireworks dispays and an array of boats. Some of the great beach destinations include Slapton, Torcross, Hope Cove, Beesands, Prawle, Salcombe, Bantham (surfing) Modbury and Thurlestone. Recommended day trips include the estuary towns of Totnes and Kingsbridge, the riverfront village of Dittisham, a trip to scenic Dartmoor, a visit to the superb Plymouth Aquarium, a day at the truly superb Paignton Zoo or Woodlands Leisure Park. For fishing enthusiasts there are plenty of opportunities to go out to sea and fish for flat fish, bream, pollock, bass and mackerel. Sharks and Conger Eel are also caught regularly. Fesh water fishermen have abundant opportunities for both coarse and game fishing in well stocked reservoirs or on river beats.

The Devon region

There is a wealth of things see and do in the West Country as well as having some of the most breathtaking scenery in the United Kingdom, it has several award winning beaches to relax on. The climate during the summer is often balmy as the Gulf Stream warms the seas in the area, makes for excellent surfing and other water based pursuits. As far as attractions are concerned there is the Eden Project a vast eco-project with huge bio-domes to explore which offer many species from around the world as well as plenty for kids to do.

A fabulous stay in the heart of Darmouth
We were a group of rowing friends coming to an event on the Dart. The house was absolutely perfect, clean, fresh, well equipped for meals at home, easy to walk into town and beautifully presented. There was a decking area at the from that caught the morning and evening sun and we sat out around the outside table. It was a perfect stay.

Wonderful stay in Dartmouth town house
We thoroughly enjoyed our pre-Christmas break in this lovely Dartmouth town house. We enjoyed being so close to the town, 5 minutes walk from the river. The whole place is very clean, comfortable and spacious, plenty of room for 6 adults. The location is quaint and very peaceful. The owner gave us good advice on places to park. We felt this was extremely good value for money and would highly recommend it.
