I rented this property for my wedding reception. Keep in mind, the price listed is not the price you will pay. They charge an extra amount and require a private, separate charge, to be done outside of VRBO app.
From one bride to another:
Pros:
beautiful/lush gardens
Clean property
Comfortable beds
Large kitchen
Good photo places on property
Bryce (groundskeeper) and his helper started to help pump water after they realized we were not cancelling our wedding.
Cons:
-The drainage system of the property is broken. So if you do not have a sunny day for your event, plan for your entire venue to be under water, as what happened to me. I would have probably never booked the property for a wedding, knowing it had drainage issues. A local person at the ice cream shop in town, mentioned that everyone knows “the castle” has flooding issues.
-Plan for the home owner to go outside of the VRBO app/website for payments outside of original booking.
-Do not expect to use the inside of the house in case of bad weather. You are not by any means, allowed to use the inside for guests.
-Plan for extras such as needing to rent porta Johns for guests, as they are not permitted to use inside toilets.
-Expect Bryce, the grounds keeper, to stick around for the entire event and threaten to shut it down if he doesn’t like what is going on with the event or people.
-The drive way is about 900ft from the house so expect to add on the extra cost of a golf cart ($350) for your guests. Unfortunately, I was hounded on my wedding day for the payment of the golf cart (that was suppose to be paid with the added cost of the venue, apparently it was never added, but my calculations say otherwise), but the grounds keeper and owner failed to mention my entire wedding set up was drowning. They were only insistent about money and not the fact that my wedding is suppose to happen in 1 hour and under water.
-Also, if people park in the drive way, there is apparently a time limit and Bryce will be quick to threaten your guests/vendors with towing vehicles. The explanation is they are fire hazards. Understood, except we had a local fireman on site who stated where certain vehicles were parked, was not a fire hazard but Bryce continued to make a scene.
- hot tub heater is broken and is a “cold tub”.
