Is this heaven? No, it's Iowa.
Everything you could possibly need, or any question you could possibly have, has been thought of and taken care of. It's a beautiful, relaxing space. The wild edge/space away from everything was a very welcome place for our anniversary.

Buyer Beware — Concerning Sanitation Paid Rental Could Not Stay
As seasoned VRBO renters we ran into a situation that anyone would consider unacceptable as it certainly was a first for us. Upon unpacking we encountered overwhelming sewer gas that did not dissipate despite leaving the property and returning. When the odorous smell worsened after returning for the 2nd time we texted another message to owners and opted to evacuate quickly as we both continued to feel ill. With no cell service we were again unable to contact owners upon leaving. The grounds are beautiful; so it was disappointing not to stay. Frankly the noxious smell inside the camper and outdoors was unsafe. Our disappointment was only overshadowed by the owners disregard for what happened when we did connect the next day. I would encourage future renters to request full disclosure of septic sanitation function status. Decorah is a favorite; so our hope is this was an isolated occurrence.

A True Hidden Gem
We enjoyed staying at the camper. There were four of us- two sisters and our two 19 year old kids. Jon was helpful and came right over when I had trouble lighting the stove- we rented their kayaks and he helped with that as well. I would stay here again if the opportunity arises!

Book It!!
This destination was amazing. I grew up in NEIA and never knew a destination like this existed. We were so relaxed and the hosts go out of their way to ensure the campers are running. The atmosphere is serene and relaxing. Everything we wanted in a vacation. Our boys already want to go back. Do not look any further and book this.

Perfect Relaxing Getaway!
This place is a little Shangri-La. Rose stopped us on the way in and was very welcoming and all we had to bring was clothes and food to grill everything else is provided and ready for you included the fire ready to walk over and light. This was almost to good to be true. The waterfall and creek we spent hours just sitting and listening and watching nature. Got a little horse pet on the nose in and walked down to the canoe river. No luck fishing. We are old enough that the cave is not really safe to enter as its at the top of the waterfall. We didn't really leave the property much we just loved it so much there. I am already giving cards to others to have them book here and we will certainly be back. My husband said its the most relaxing, peaceful, restorative vacation he has ever been on. Book it just book it!!

Weekend away
What a wonderful way to get away and regroup from the chaos of life. We were able to do lots of hiking to several of the waterfalls in the area, enjoyed some local restaurants, a little shopping, some fishing and even a bike ride on one of the many trails. Love the quiet, relaxed setting with the waterfall behind us. Thank you we will be back.

Fun family trip!
We stayed for 3 nights and our kids, 5 and 7, had so much fun playing in the stream and waterfall for hours on end. Our host, Jon, checked on us when we arrived, and was so welcoming. The camper is well stocked with so much, and the property was perfect to hang out after a day of activities!

Amazing hideaway
My family and I had an amazing time on our camping trip. The kids loved the horses, the stream and just being outside. They provided a lot of things that we brought. So next time we come we won’t have to pack as much! I suggest you ask them what they have before you go. It will save you room while packing lol

Lots of nature to explore!!!
What a wonderful place to spend with the kids!!! We enjoyed fishing, exploring, bon fires, and then more fishing. The trout stream is a great place to take the kids because they can easily catch fish after fish. When we weren’t fishing we drove into Decorah to see the local sights. The camper was like home away from home. Very cozy, very clean, well stocked, and the owner left good instructions so we knew how to work everything. We enjoyed it so much our friends booked a stay for their family!!

Disappointment for Sure
Disappointment is the word to describe this property. Just a few things that disappointed us: the floor rugs were dirty; the outside patio/deck was filthy with fallen leaves etc and no broom could be found; just a couple of wet huge pieces of wood - certainly nothing burnable; the camper is advertised to sleep 7 ---- I sure wouldn't want any more than 2 inside that camper; and finally the cockroach scurrying down the bathroom wall was not welcomed. We never saw the hosts during our stay. The trout creek nearby was a joke. Not worth the cost Sorry, but we will not recommend this property to anyone.

This was the most amazing rental experience we have ever had. The property is breathtaking. The camper was very cleaned, decorated beautifully, and had everything we needed. We only needed to reach out to Uncle John and Rose once. They were very quick to respond and we're very accommodating. We plan to be back soon and make this place a regular place to visit.

Better than a hotel!
We just needed a place to stay for one night having come down from the cities to pick our daughter up from end of semester at Luther. The price was right, we thought. The pictures looked nice enough. When we left, we agreed it would be our future “go to” place! The camper was as nice as any hotel, plus the added bonus of a stream and waterfall, campfire, horses, pasture…doesn’t get any better. Wish we could’ve stayed longer…Next time!!

Sister weekend
Our very first impression was amazing! When we stepped into the camper, it was very welcoming. The camper was beautifully decorated, and soft music was playing. It was a WOW moment!! Beautiful, Woodsy surroundings with the soft sound of a waterfall just a few feet away. A great fire pit setup with plenty of cut wood ready to go. It was wonderful to have the cooking items we needed for the stove and grill. It was very nice, not to have to pack bedding and bath towels. Everything was generously provided. Beautiful retreat away from the hustle and bustle of life. We highly recommend this Hideaway and would love to return in the future.
