About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire cabin to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Historic Trott cabin, 3 beds, 2 bathrooms. Thanksgiving in the mountains.

Cherished, historic cabin. The property has views of Church Mt. that blend with a wildlife preserve. *The maximum days that guests may stay is 7 days. Just down the highway1/3 mile, there are some great restaurants, the Wake n Bakery, Graham's store, Graham's restaurant, a new Mexican restaurant and Chair 9 restaurant are a few minutes away. Mt. Baker ski area is a 20 minute drive for mountain hiking and skiing. Free WIFI and parking. Nice woodstove and wood.
3 beds, 2 bathrooms, a private master bedroom and beautiful carpets through out the cabin. The kitchen and dining room flow into the living room in an open concept design. We have some great movie selections, books, board games, music and a nice sound system. Please supervise children not to operate any electronic equipment.
Cabin's history: This historic cabin was built by Otto T. Trott, M.D. who was co founder and physician of Mountain Rescue of the U.S.A and Ski Patrol doctor at Mt. Baker for 44 years. Dr. Trott was also an original organizer of the National Volunteer Ski Patrol. He was a famous diagnostician, surgeon, epidemiologist and tuberculosis expert and his teaching lectures are still being used today in hospitals and Universities. A ski run "Ottobahn" is named in his honor.
House Rules:
No smoking and guests must be 25 yrs old to book. Extra guest fee for more than 4 guests @ $50.00 per night per guest. This cabin is not suitable for babies or toddlers. Park only on the level end area of the loop surrounding 2 sheds. Walk down to the cabin from there and do not attempt to drive anywhere else on the property. A foot path is the access down a slight incline to the side door where the lock box is located.

Please always remove shoes inside to keep the carpets and floors dry and pleasant during your stay. * I recommend packing slippers.
Eco friendly policy: *Please keep the cabin clean and neat. Compact clean, dry recycle items separated from the garbage to reduce the volume of garbage. Flattening boxes or large plastic bottles also helps.
Dog fee is $ 50.00 per dog per stay. Please pick up after dogs, tie bags and store them in the lidded can on the porch and keep dogs off beds and furniture. *Please do not unplug any electronics anywhere or stand on any furniture some pieces are over 100 years old.
*Please lock up the cabin and turn off all heat registers whenever you leave the cabin or are not using the electric heat.
Please keep counters dry with no standing water on them. *NEVER flush tampons, wipes, excessive soap, bleach or food down any toilets or drains or the septic system will be damaged and the guest will be charged for repairs. *There is no food disposal in the sink so, please just empty the drain basket into the garbage can.
Woodstove: Open the flue by pushing the lever all the way inwards. Keep logs from touching the glass, and do not shove logs against the interior bricks to avoid breakage. Shovel the cooled ashes into the metal can with the lid on tightly. Small starter supply of Emergency wood in case of power outages in colder weather seasons.

Self Check in: 3 pm - The entrance is a sharp left turn (drive slowly and carefully here), park in front of the gate, get the key out of the lock box using the small black button to clear it then enter the 3 digit code followed by the # sign and lock the gate key back inside of it's lockbox, lock the lock onto the gate ring so it does not fall to the ground and get lost, leave the gate open for the duration of your stay, then park on the level end of the loop road.
Cabin Lockbox: Use the small black button to clear it , enter the 3 digits followed by the # sign, repeat these steps to lock the key back inside it's lockbox. Leaving the keys locked inside their own lockboxes ensures that you do not lose keys.
Security cameras outside at entrances.

Check out is at 11am - (the owners arrive at this time to clean the cabin). Please do not strip the beds and put all used towels in the bathtub and take all overflow of garbage that does not fit in the kitchen cans at check out. Please leave the cabin key locked back inside of the lock box after locking up and please turn off All heat registers, take all food you brought and any overflow of garbage and make sure to lock all windows and doors.
Thank you!

Life in the Forest
This cozy, clean, and solidly built cabin is an ideal location for a ski trip to Mt. Baker. Well appointed kitchen, host even supplied ground coffee for the coffee maker. Lovely living room space with all you need to build a fire. We enjoyed the old school receiver, speakers and CD player, great collection of old CDs. Internet was quite serviceable for our needs. You are truly in the forest here with no evidence of neighbors although you are just a couple minutes from the local bakery. Really could not ask for a better situation for our group for the long weekend!

We absolutely enjoyed our stay at the Trott Cabin!! We definitely want to come back and stay another time! What a perfect and peaceful place for us to just unwind in this majestic, private place! Renate is amazing to communicate with! We loved reading about the history of her dad! Skiing, snowboarding, hiking or just want privacy and a lil getaway … This is the place to come! Thank you so much for the memories with our son and daughter in law! Tina Riggins

Lovely Forest Preserve With Awesome Views!
Me and my guests just completed a wonderful trip to this delightful forested preserve of a property. It was cozy and inviting, with comfortable beds, piping hot showers in demand, and a gorgeous view of Church Mountain. We cooked delicious meals together with a full kitchen, and played on the large rotating Scrabble board both nights. We could have watched some fun looking titles of the film selection, but had too much fun just playing and reading. It is great to have good reading lights above each bed. We discovered the long railway easement road across the highway opposite the cabin which takes you through a lovely moss covered walk all the way into Glacier, where we enjoed a muffin and coffee at the Wakenbake Bakery and Cafe. The helpful signs the host put up gave us good instructions about how best to manage this lovely secluded cabin in the woods. And it was SO quiet, we could hear owls!

Great Family Cabin in Glacier
We really loved this cozy cabin! It has a gorgeous view, is situated on a large property, and only a couple minutes to get to the amenities in Glacier. We loved learning about this cabin's history and the life of Otto Trott. I stayed up one night until 1 a.m. reading the book about him at the cabin, made by what appears to be one of the family members. Such an interesting person and the book is a wonderful tribute to him and a true labor of love! The cabin had all of the amenities we needed and we appreciated that it's dog-friendly. The do wish I had known that the cabin is situated right off the Mt. Baker Highway. While it still feels private, you can hear the traffic and we did need to worry about the dog and make sure he was always well supervised outside and didn't wander near the traffic. I was hoping the dog could have freedom on the property, so may have chosen a different place to stay if I had known this. It would be helpful to mention in the cabin description. Despite that one issue, overall this is a wonderful place and I highly recommend it!

Great setup. Wish we had more time to enjoy longer.
Nervous contacts from owner months before rental detracted from pleasure. Instructions everywhere caused us to never forget we were usurpers. I do understand there is a need for accountability, but we also had the need to relax. Instructions for wifi on fact list not accurate . Power lost morning of leaving...no instructions regarding this....no contact numbers. Our holiday was lovely but this is not a cabin to relax in.

Pefect for ski getaway
Our family loved staying at the Trott cabin for our short ski vacation at Mt. Baker, and we'd love to come back again. Even with the challenge of a 24-hour power outage which affected the whole area on the coldest day in a long time (low single digits!), we had fun, thanks to incredible communication/support from the owners and their well-prepared supplies of water and firewood. We were so glad not to miss our two bluebird days at Baker, using the cozy cabin as a home-base. The house is very clean, well-organized, stocked with everything you need, and full of little creative and historical touches. We had a great time!

Serene Forest Retreat
This family cabin is located off of a mountain highway, but set far back on the property with clear views, and surrounded by giant old trees, ferns, thimble berry bushes, and numerous other native plants. The air smells so sweet and clean, and the relaxation that comes from looking at that much lush greenery is significant. Inside the cabin, you’ll find anything you need for a comfortable stay, plus an excellent set of 3 foot tall, old school speakers. We’ve stayed at the Trott Family Cabin numerous times, and I always look forward to listening to their CD of Fleetwood Mac. We recently stayed during a mini heat wave, but temperatures at the cabin were consistently 20 degrees cooler than out on the road, and it cooled down to the 50s at night. This place is an authentic gem, family owned with lots of personality and love.

A beautiful cabin in a peaceful setting
We enjoyed clean, comfortable accommodations, just the right size for our group of three adults and two dogs. I appreciated that the kitchen had everything needed to fry bacon, grate cheese, whisk eggs, peel potatoes and bake cookies. We came in late January, expecting snow, but just had enough to be pretty. We played games and drank wine by the wood stove. It's unanimous: We would visit again. This home-away-from-home is a beautiful place for an annual refresh and recharge.

We fell in love with this cabin the moment we stepped in. It was charming, cozy, comfortable and had everything we needed. The property is beautiful, massive trees and mountain views everywhere, and the hosts couldn't have been friendlier or more accommodating. We were there in January, enjoyed bluebird weather and went snowshoeing and hiking, but we can't wait to come back when it's raining for days so we can just sit and read by the fire. An absolutely perfect place.

Lovely property, well situated just west of Glacier, WA
Lovely property, well managed. Upstairs master bedroom with a great view, and a balcony. The remaining two beds are in the large loft/landing just outside the master, as is the upstairs bathroom. So, occupants of main bedroom must walk through loft to use the bathroom. Full bath downstairs. Well appointed, including the kitchen, living room and bathrooms. Beautiful wetlands below the property, but only accessible by scrambling down a steep hillside. A short distance from the highway, so you can hear the cars when you are outside, but not too bad. We had a good time and would stay again.

Tranquil getaway cabin, and dog-friendly too!
This mountain cabin was very clean and well-maintained. It's situated on a beautiful lot with many large trees, as well as the view and sounds of a nearby wetland area. It was equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The cabin is located within a short drive to many great hiking spots in the area. There's also local bakery in town that was well worth a visit. The cabin owner was very communicative and responsive during the reservation process, as well as when we needed to exchange information prior to our stay. Definitely Recommended!

This was a great place to stay to get away from the city and crowds. Excellent location with wonderful yard full of big trees and grassy areas (loved by us and our dog) and quiet nights. Close to some incredible hikes. The cabin was charming with lots of light (especially upstairs) and peaceful and felt like it had belonged to a mountaineer, with books, climbing axes and black and white photos.
