"Staff were welcoming and friendly at all times, from receptionists to cleaners. We use this hotel as a base for visiting granddaughter at the University, it is convenient for that, for shopping in the Westgate Centre and for some beautiful walks along the river."

The lighting over the desk seemed less than adequate, though (the only small niggle in an otherwise superb accommodation. The variety available at breakfast at a relatively small cost was extremely good. A very pleasurable experience. We hope to stay again. "

"Lovely hotel in very central location. Was a bit worried about noise but it was fine in the end during the night. Moved rooms to have a separate bathroom and lovely host gave us a bottle of wine and some earplugs in case of noise. Highly recommend the No.1 Ship Street restaurant nearby!"

"Nice room, friendly staff, very good food morning and evening, ample car parking (which really matters in Oxford, where street parking in the centre is outrageously expensive). Only problem was that I couldn't get the radiator in my room to work. Acceptable now (the heated towel rail did work), but will be a problem in winter. "
