The photos don't do the view justice by a long shot. You have a sunset view every night, and in summer the sunsets up there last a long time. But there is also the front room with two gorgeous views into woods.
I sat on the deck and read for hours each day.
The waves are soothing.
We heard our neighbors, who were a good ways away, but two families with kids playing in the water. We saw some folks kayak by a couple of times, but otherwise, the place was 100% secluded.
Cottage was well stocked, though we had to replace the dish soap and the propane tank. The great surround sound only works with DVDs, but DVDs don't play on the TV. I must urge the owners to fix the AV situation--and a slightly larger TV wouldn't be a bad idea; although, up there one tends to be early to bed early to rise, but still, we would've watched more movies and listening to music would've been nice.
The biggest downside to the area is that playing in the water is tricky, it is a rocky shore that is slippery and hard to walk on (and water levels are very high), so even though the place is literally 15 feet from the shore line, swimming on the property is pretty much out.
The cottage is huge, easily big enough for two couples each with kids. The place is very clean, the ant problem mentioned by someone a month before we came was pretty much solved by the time we got there--which, if you've dealt with that sort of thing, isn't easy to accomplish.
I found the critique about the furniture of an earlier reviewer to be invalid. I found all furniture to be reasonably comfortable and feel that reviewer was just missing their own stuff. That said, lounge chairs for the deck would be welcome.
We love this place--not Drummond Island so much: not enough good hiking trails and the place is a bit too remote for us (we're vegetarians so the dinning out options and shopping were too limited for us, most probably wouldn't feel this way), we won't be back, the UP has better locations.
The trick with the island is to either be into atving (we're not) or plan to paddle a lot, we brought our dog and didn't find the canoe paddles until the last day--they're in the canoe but we didn't flip it all the way over at first.
