Two of the most important features of our cabin (in our opinion and why we purchased the cabin) is its location on a dead-end lane and the wonderful views of Duck Creek Village, meadow and surrounding mountains from the large deck. The roads can be dusty and very noisy from UTV’s and ATV’s. Our dead-end lane is very quiet, secluded with very little dust. The views of the surrounding mountains, Duck Creek Village and sky are amazing. NOTE: Duck Creek Village is about 8500 feet above sea level.
The cabin is also very open and bright...when we looked at buying a cabin so many were dark and closed in. We wanted light and bright!
NO PETS....we have severe allergies.
Just after Thanksgiving we put up a lighted holiday tree and some tasteful holiday decor for our guests to enjoy (we get to enjoy it too…if we make it there during December).
2 bedrooms each with king beds and plush bedding
1 large full bath with tub/shower combo in between both bedrooms (separate access to bathroom), comfort height commode. Good water pressure everywhere in the cabin.
Queen plus sofa sleeper in large main living area. Unlike most sofa beds mattresses, two people can sleep comfortably side-by-side with no motion transfer. There is no gap between the mattress and back or arms and no parts of the mechanism are exposed, so it's safe for children.
Even though the cabin CAN sleep up to 6, we really feel our cabin is great for 2-4 people maximum and prefer to keep it that way :)
We lease our cabin nightly year-round. We do have professional snow removal for the driveway in the winter. The unpaved roads in the area are plowed and usually snow-packed as well but we do require you have a 4 wheel drive and chains just in case.
** Full Kitchen including full size refrigerator, oven, new full size above range/oven microwave (not in photos) that direct vents to the outside of cabin, portable dishwasher (needs to be attached to kitchen faucet to run). We do dishes by hand most the time.
** We have installed a new stainless/black stove/oven that is more versatile, better at cooking (not in photos yet)
** Coffee maker (#4 filter), mini Keurig machine, toaster, blender, large crock pot, waffle iron, plenty of dish ware, cookware, utensils and specialty cooking items too!
**Plenty of specialty adult beverage drinking items (stemware, openers etc.)
**65” Smart HDTV with Blue ray player and surround sound system. DISH satellite. Photos show a 55” TV but we’ve replaced it with a 65”.
**Huge, beautiful wood burning stove with blower in large living area.
**Large deck with patio furniture and a large propane BBQ grill (propane tank can be exchanged at the Duck Creek True Value, if needed).
**Fire pit outside next to the cabin.....make s'mores, have a cocktail by the fire, look up at the stars! Plenty of chairs and space. Generally not available in winter as it is covered by snow!
**Garage under cabin for some storage (ATV, OHV, UTV, bikes etc.) not quite large enough for a car/truck.....great to work on ATVs, snowmobiles, bikes, skis etc.
**Exterior hose and faucet to clean your toys
**Full size washer and dryer in garage (under main portion of cabin, see photos)
**RV parking and plenty of space for vehicle parking.
**HIGH SPEED WiFi Internet, we get great service on our cell phones (Verizon, AT&T, T Mobile) at the cabin but very limited service on highway 14 (on your way to cabin)
**Plenty of games, books, puzzles, and area guide books, local literature and maps
**All one level living
**Ceiling fans with lights in each bedroom (not in photos…added August 2024).
We also added a new bathroom exhaust fan with SurfaceShield™ with Vyv™ antibacterial light technology It helps keep spaces cleaner. The fan quietly removes humidity from the room and destroys bacteria, mold and fungus with the flick of a switch.
We have 4 Envi High Efficiency whole room convection wall panel fan-less heaters for the bedrooms and main living area. They are SAFE for children, slim and silent (no fan). Heat in each bedroom and living area can be controlled separately.
We also have a mobile infrared room heater to help warm up the cabin while you start a fire or to use to replace the fire.
We have a small electric "fireplace" in the cabinet under the TV as well.
March 2021: we stayed at our cabin for 4 nights and did not need to start a fire in the wood stove. We were able to use the heaters in the cabin. Our wood stove is fabulous but sometimes I don’t want to smell the smoke!
Note: The cabin is very clean HOWEVER despite our best efforts to keep it clean; we do get cobwebs quickly (cleaning one day and webs the next). It is a cabin in the mountains! I rarely see spiders but I do see their webs.
Wildlife abounds here.....plenty of deer, birds, chipmunks, squirrels, crazy gaggles of wild turkeys rumble around our lot and surrounding vacant lot before taking flight to roost in the trees in front of our deck! They look like lumbering, heavy planes trying to get a running start to fly!
