Light of the valley river house
It was a really nice home and lots of room. The only thing I was unable to do was remove our trash from the property. There was no room in my car to take a couple trash bags. Trash was placed in the trash cans.

Fishing trip
I stay here each year with a school friend to fish. The house is located on the North fork of the Shenandoah and works wonderfully. The house is well equipped and modern. It is located close to Edinburg and Woodstock so that guided trips are readily available.

Beautiful home with a gorgeous property. River access is extraordinary! This is home is in the middle of nowhere and only four miles from the center of town. We had a fabulous time running the river several times a day. Also, between the owner and the management team everyone was looking out for our vacation. A+ Look for the Bald Eagle.

Lovely home on the river
My family enjoyed our stay at the home which is situated on a very large lot that backs up to beautiful trees and the river. The house was very clean and had everything we needed to enjoy our time away. We also appreciated that it was quiet and dog friendly.

Great place to stay
This place has just about everything. Located on the North Fork of the Shenandoah River, it is in a peaceful area near town, but not too near. The house is in good condition, but could use a little touch up here and there. All appliances were in good working order and the kitchen had many pots, pans and utensils. The bathrooms were all in good condition. One thing to note is that the area has soft water. We were lucky enough to meet the owner as we checked in. He is a really nice guy and gave us some tips about fishing spots on the river. I would happily stay here again.

It was perfect!
We had a wonderful weekend at the river house. The photos didn’t do the location and house justice. Plenty of space, beautiful view, separated from other houses. We were able to enjoy the inside and outside of the property.

Great house
This was a great house to stay in for a grandmother and her kids and grandchildren. My only beef is the fact that we had to put away clean dishes back in the cupboard and there were no bath towels. I paid for a cleaning fee so I don’t understand. I flew in from Texas and having a bath towel to pack for flying was too much!

Lovely home; lovely location
We enjoyed the house and grounds very much. We played badminton on the front lawn, walked to the road each afternoon, paddled down the river in the canoes, had family meals together in the dining room (had to buy silverware as there wasn’t much in the drawer). Nice stay! Called property owner about washing machine problem (does not spin) but did not hear back. Otherwise very nice stay.

Relaxing family vacation
My family and I rented the house for our Thanksgiving and had a wonderful time. The house has plenty of space and is in a scenic location next to the Shenandoah river. We enjoyed the fire pit on the chilly nights and the sun room in the morning was great. Thanks for the stay!

Shenandoah Valley Retreat
Spent too much time on Ancestry during quarantine and wanted to visit the area to discover where my grandfather, great grandparents and great-great grandparents were born and raised. Also was tired of being in the house after a year and a half so as soon as me and my daughters were vaccinated, we found this cute little house online and reserved a few days in July and took off on a road trip from Texas with the dog. The area is nice a quiet and in a little neighborhood that is tucked away on the river. The house is beautiful and was stocked with everything we needed. The owner provided us with all the info we needed to use the house and to get the canoe out (which we had a lot of fun on). There was ample space for all of us and then some. We spent a lot of time out on the deck or down by the river or in the river. We saw a river otter, woodchuck, bald eagle and more and that was perfect for my little biologist in the making. We did have dinner one night at the Edinburg Mill which was nice. If you're looking for quiet and relaxation, this is the place.

Beautiful spot on the river
The house and location were great. The kitchen is perfect for a big gathering, and we really enjoyed the outdoor space and canoes. The house was also very clean and generally comfortable. I was, however, dismayed to learn with our check-in information that bath towels would not be provided. Additionally, this is the first house I've ever rented that did not have any extra blankets and pillows. It was cool enough in the evening that I went out and purchased throw blankets because the thin coverlets on the beds were not sufficiently warm. My suggestion would be to make sure that the house is well-stocked with extra blankets and pillows, and to clearly advise -- in the listing -- that bath towels are not provided.

Nice change of pace
We appreciated the change of pace and scenery! House is clean but does show some wear and tear. Access to the river is via small ramp -- it's not the best for little kids to explore but there is a great state park nearby with a wonderful wading river. The front yard is large enough that we were able to fly a kite. The description and the photos are accurate, so pay close attention! In a house that sleeps 10, the dining table sits 4. We made do as a family of 5, but would be tricky with more people. Appliances work great but bring your solo cups because there aren't a lot of water glasses. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Great Stay at Light of the Valley River House
My friends and I had a great weekend stay at the Light of the Valley River House. The location is great, very peaceful setting for a relaxing weekend. The property is big and having access to the river is great. We had fun using the canoes and gathering around the fire pit. The house is spacious, clean and had everything we needed. The fenced yard was great for my dog to run around freely without concerns. The house is also very close to supermarkets, café shops and wineries. We were all very satisfied with the experience.

Great Stay
Enjoyed our stay here. Plenty of room and very clean. Super bonus points from our dog for the fenced enclosure and grounds to run on. Very convenient local amenities and attractions. Easy check-in/check-out. Communicative owner. My only quibble is that the listing should state upfront that there is no wifi. The pre-arrival text mentions it, and correctly notes that cell signal strength is pretty good, so using a hotspot is an option, but wifi is almost a basic amenity at this price point, and specifically noting it in the post would seem appropriate. Overall, a great long weekend for the family.

Great location with lots to do
Great location with lots to do nearby! We enjoyed Bryce resort, fishing in the Shenandoah River and the firepit. It would be a great location to visit in the spring or fall as it's close to hiking too. We loved the view from the sunroom and watched a bald eagle fish along the river. The fenced backyard was perfect for the dogs and the spacious front yard was great for whiffle ball and frisbee with the kids.
