"The hotel is situated in an idyllic quiet surrounding of Mariastein. The hotel room was spacious and clean and quiet. No noise from outside.
The service of the staff is amazing. They go above and beyond.
Breakfast is amazing with fresh products (bread, cheese, cold cuts, cereal, milk, eggs)."
"The staff was excellent, very helpful with arranging transport, guiding with restaurant info. When needing an extra night they accommodated. Very convenient location with grocery store, restaurants, public transport all right there. "
"Nice clean hotel in a peaceful location on the border between France & Switzerland. We particularly enjoyed the swimming pool, sauna & hammam. Breakfast was nice too."
"The Hotel Baslertor is located in the beautiful town of Muttenz just outside Basel. The hotel has a great staff, updated rooms, wonderful location with walkable shoppes and restaurants, and the transit system can get you anywhere quickly. Stay here when visiting Basel for a real small village swiss experience. "
"Typical ibis budget quality but totally ok with it as long as you know there is no hair dryer and the desk is relatively small.
Overall 4/5 and nice hotel, plus points for the underground garage which is very good."
"We checked in at the front desk and took an elevator to our room. We enjoyed seeing Basal the next day using free public transportation. It is a very nice town. We chose not to have breakfast, but I didn’t see where you could grab a cup of coffee. There was no coffee or tea in our room. "
"Clean, modern room and the hotel was really quiet at night. Breakfast was good with plenty of options. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only negative was the shower gel was running very low and not filled up and only two hangers in the wardrobe which was not enough for our five night stay. Location was ok, not many eating places next to the hotel but only a short walk to the train station where there were great transport links and places to eat. Around 15 minutes to walk to the centre of Basel...
"Staff was uniformly wonderful. Great family-owned hotel that has retained its old-world ambiance. Amenities included some free wine, beer, juice into the room refrigerator, great breakfast buffet and the special Basel card. That allowed us to ride the trams for free. "
"Excellent location with lots within walking or easily accessible using the trams/buses. Helpful and friendly staff, clean and comfortable. A great base for exploring Basal."
"A really good stay. The station is in a really good location near the station and a minute walk from the tram. Staff were really friendly and everything was neat and comfortable."
"It's in great location, walkable from the main train station and also walkable to the main touristy/restaurant area of the city.
The room we had was huge, more like a small apartment. Everything was in great condition and checkin was super easy.
Having the free bus pass was very handy, as it meant we could make our way back to the airport at no extra charge (you need bus 50 to get to the airport, it stops just on the left hand side (as you are walking out) of the main entrance to the SBB...
"The interiors and room quality is excellent. However the hotel is in a shopping and restaurant centre so it feels very odd and there is a great deal of external noise. Our very large window looks out on to a service yard...
That said the location in town is good, so fine for a one night stopover."

"Thank you for your hospitality. The entire staff was so friendly. This hotel is so beautiful and our view was amazing. We highly recommend it. The location is great, walking distance from everything. If we come back to Basel we will be staying here again. Thank you for making our stay so wonderful and memorable. "

The only slight negative is the room felt quite warm, which was the case for all of the hotels we stayed in in Switzerland. We had air con but turning that down didn't make too much of a difference. But I would say this is a great place to stay if visiting Basel or even if you are just transiting through e.g. making your way to or from the mountains. "

"Everything about this hotel works well. Good location near the city centre but is quiet during the night. Try and get a garden room rather than one facing the street. Breakfast is eye watering in price but it’s nice. Restaurant can do an evening meal but it’s not a great choice."
