Perfect for a nature-filled family vacation
This was our family's first visit to Door County, and this cottage was the perfect homebase for us as we explored, relaxed, and enjoyed great time together. For anyone unfamiliar with Door County (as we were), the Ellison Bay location is just a little north of some more familiar, busier towns, which was absolutely perfect for us. It was quick and easy to visit Sister Bay, Ephraim, and Fish Creek, but we loved starting and ending our days in a quieter location. We also made time to go just a little farther north and discovered possibly the highlight of our trip when we did: Bea's Ho-made Products. Yum! We were pleasantly surprised to find the cottage larger than expected. The room with twin beds is on the second floor, and the living room and dining room worked very comfortably for our family of six. The kitchen was stocked with everything we'd need to cook and bake. There were more than enough bath towels for our multi-day stay, although we were glad we brought extra beach towels. One note: the property has a sump pump that will occasionally create a whooshing/flushing sound. If the weather is dry, the pump likely won't run, but it was running frequently since we were there during a wet time. It wasn't a problem for us but light sleepers may want ear plugs. We didn't know what to expect in terms of the business next door, but it wasn't an issue at all. As of our visit, the retail space was very quiet with no traffic or noise, and separate entrances/spaces were very clear.

So happy to have found this little gem. We were able to do all that northern Door County had to offer and enjoy day trips south without worrying about the hustle and bustle of the larger little towns.

The property was clean and suited our needs. The extra bathroom was located in an attached shop, which was a little awkward to go into and use. I’m used to more communication with the host from the booking and then leading up to the stay.

Perfect Home Base
My sister and I explored Door County from this beautiful home base. The property is an oasis after a busy day. We enjoyed returning to it for a cozy evening and a good nights sleep. It was also nicely situated for walks to the surrounding area stores, restaurants, and park on the bay. Although we didn't need it, the upstairs bedroom is so cozy! We would definitely stay there again.

This garden cottage VRBO was perfect for our family. Extended family members were able to meet up with us, have drinks on the patio and then head to the outdoor movie theater and tailgate with a pizza party! So much fun! We all wore pink for the Barbie movie and enjoyed ourselves making our time together special and memorable.

A little warm
A very clean property! Willow arrived just as we were checking in and we told her it was 76 inside. She said she had to turn off the central air to do some work on it. We left and she texted me that everything was working well. We returned about 4 hours later and it was 74. I contacted Chris and Willow to let them know and Chris said they would have a repairman there in the morning. We left the next morning to explore and returned later and it was still 74 even though the temperature was set at 63. The upstairs bedroom was about 10 degrees warmer. Everything was perfect with this property if you don't need air conditioning.

Nice Quiet Location in the northern section of DC
We appreciated the location of Willow's rental. It's only 15 minutes to Sister Bay/Ephiram & there's some great restaurants in Ellison Bay within walking distance. The beauty of this rental is the proximity to Headlands Co Park, Ellison Bay, County Park, and Newport State Park. If you enjoy hiking or trail running this is a great location. There are several cherry orchards nearby, if you're visiting during cherry season take advantage of pick your own experience and farmer's markets. The house was big enough for our family of 4. It only has one bathroom, no washer and dryer, and basic kitchen amenities. If your trip is a week or less I think you'll be happy in this location. The tips in the guide book are excellent. Don't miss the Eagle Trail at Peninsula State Park. If you are traveling with children the drive-in theatre is fun and the fish boil at The Old Post Office in Ephraim are fun events. I'd recommend getting on the water on a sailboat or Fish Creek Tour boat as well. I hope you enjoy your time in DC as much as we didd.

Charming cottage for family trip
This was a great place for our annual trip to Door County. We loved being close to the beach, coffee shops, and our favorite restaurant, Wickman House. We had plenty of room for 7 adults to sit and visit both inside and outside on the patio. We loved the mid-century vibe, art work on the walls and the plush beach towels! Check in was easy and communication with Willow was great. We look forward to staying again.
