Cute Essex house
Very comfortable and as pictured and described in other reviews. Note that the fan must be on when you shower. We made the mistake not to, and the steam set off the fire alarm just outside the bathroom door. Otherwise no mishaps and we would gladly return.

Me and my significant other had an amazing stay at The Historic Essex Home w/ Large Yard Near Downtown!. Lovisa and Gene were incredibly helpful and polite, going above and beyond to ensure our stay in Essex was enjoyable. The home was such a lovely spot – quiet, comfortable, and perfectly situated near delightful local shops. The cheese shop, in particular, was a highlight for my significant other! The house was so quaint and comfy you'll feel right at home. Everything was within easy walking distance, and we felt so safe – it truly felt like a home away from home.

Nice Peaceful Getaway
Nicely decorated and very comfortable older 2 BR house near the cute little village of Essex. Very large yard and beautiful outdoor furniture. Typical of the house’s vintage, stairs to bedrooms are very steep and slick so bring slippers or grippy socks.

Better than advertised
Perfect location. Easy access from Route 9 and property was walkable to town and seemed more rural than suburban due to the spacious lot size. Both bedrooms provided a great sleeping experience for the three guests. My first house rental on VRBO, and this was a winner. Many dining options very close to property. We all enjoyed the stay.

A great place to stay!
We spent a quiet weekend in Essex, CT. This house was very clean and very comfortable. My wife, my dog, and I couldn’t have been more pleased with our stay. Communication with the property owner was easy. Location is easy to get to off the highway, but it has a small-town feel and it is close to amenities. All in all, five stars!

Essex house
Very nice Connecticut cape house with a pleasant side yard. 15 min walk to center of Essex. Nice restaurants everywhere, and the steam train ride is well worth the price. Very good chocolate cookies at the chocolate geek store down town. The house works pretty well except the freezer door on the refrigerator does not stay closed and opens whenever the refrigerator door is opened. Excellent tv and WiFi.

Perfect spot for a relaxing stay.
Kind, communicative owners and a lovely property! It was raining the day we arrived, so Lovisa thoughtfully left an umbrella by the back door--preventing us from getting soaked as we carried the bags in. The house itself is decorated in a charming way, with all the amenities you'd expect plus all the comforts of home. There's also a great patio outside, with comfortable garden furniture. Best of all, you're just a short stroll from downtown Essex--one of the prettiest towns in coastal Connecticut. Thanks, Lovisa! Highly recommended.

Charming cape-style home
This adorable little house and its surrounding property are nicely cared for, with a lovely outdoor area and easy off-street parking. The home was spotless, with a well-appointed kitchen, comfortable beds, nice linens, terrific shower, good lighting. Gino was prompt and informative in communicating, and went out of his way to ensure that we were all set. We enjoyed exploring Essex and surrounding towns - all within easy driving distance. The property gave us a perfect base for a couple days of rest and rejuvenation.

Great Cape a short walk from town
Stayed at this property with my partner for two nights. Gene was very prompt about returning my calls and answering any questions we had. Our check in process was easy using a lockbox at the back door. The decor is a bit of a throw back but overall the house was very clean and comfortable - plenty of towels, extra pillows and throw blankets to get cozy on the couch. The kitchen had a new fridge and was very well stocked - a full spice rack which was a nice touch and even some ice cream in the freezer! The house is located a short, very pretty walk from the town which was wonderful. It’s on a main road with a pond and the fire house across the street. I was concerned it may be on the noisy side but that was not an issue at all. We felt very safe staying here and appreciated the ease, comfort and cleanliness of it all.

A Perfect Location
Our family had a wonderful long weekend in this lovely home. So comfortable, close to everything, and lots of yard space for our son to run around in. Gino was kind enough to leave us some fresh milk for coffee and some ice cream in the freezer. The bed in the master is so comfortable, and the entire home is incredibly clean. We hope to return again!
