"Lovely property inside the city walls but away from the high traffic tourist areas. Well equipped with everything you need. Easy check in. We had a lovely visit in Volterra."
"Such a beautiful property! The rooms and amenities were fantastic. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. We will definitely come back and stay at this property. I highly recommend staying at this property "
"Great place, close to some really neat towns and things to see. Awesome to have big nice pool to come back to after a hot day of sightseeing. The best thing about it is the family that owns it. So warm and friendly and helpful in every. Truly enjoyable stay."
"Il Castagnolo was the perfect quick Tuscan stay for our family. The accommodations are pleasant and comfortable. The pool is cold and overlooks the beautiful countryside, and it’s a very quick ride into San Gimignano town as well as surrounding Tuscan vineyards."

Le Macine, a wonderful ancient restored watermill with Pool
10/10 Excellent
"A lovely stay, good quality air con in bedrooms, Alex is a great host. Make sure you go to one of the meals he hosts because the food was divine. Good location to Volterra, property is right next to a road but gated. "
"Excellent stay. Great welcome and check in experience with lots of info on the local area. Great breakfast using all local produce and different every day. Rooms were very spacious and comfortable. And the views!! And the pool!!
Luca the host was very accommodating. We work in hospitality and couldn’t believe the extras - choose your own mattress type, and pillow type.
It really was a fantastic place. We’ll be back."
"Hotel is traditional European style, beautiful wood, simple towels and bedding. Bathrooms impeccable, modern.
Dinner and breakfast excellent.
Location is excellent for touring Voltera. Note: Voltera is very hilly; the property is a walk uphill to the city center. Very convenient."
"The host, Francesco, was very responsive; the accommodation itself was clean although very dated; it was in a good location just inside the city walls. However, the description states that parking is available- I was sent a link to 4 separate public parking lots- 3 paid and 1 free- there was zero availability. I stated this to Francesco who adamantly told me to refer to the description stating parking is available but not a private lot- and as I previously stated, there was no parking available many times, in any of the lots. Just want others to be aware as I didn’t see this in any reviews and when I see that parking is available- whether public or private- I assume there will be a spot somewhere without having to drive around for over an hour and then walk a very good distance.
