"We thorougly enjoyed our stay, the staff were friendly and the facilities were super. We were very early in the season so many preparations and improvements were taking place, so we feel it would have been even better a little later into the month. We particularly enjoyed our meals in the restaurant. The beautiful beach was very quiet and the walk along the railway path, and on into the town and harbour was a joy. "

"I came in December, which is their low season, so I was basically one of the very few people staying at the hotel. The receptionist was only around for the check-in. The cleaning staff only showed up once. The rest of the time, they expect you to call if you need help, which is not realistic for foreign travellers, especially if you are not fluent in French or Italian. The building is locked, so basic safety is not an issue. However, when the internet went out, I had no way to contact anyone...

"1970s hostel type rooms with a nice pool, view, more modern lobby/bar area. Don’t recommend for families with babies. Rooms: horrible. So uncomfortable. Bedding is two hospital sheets. Beyond outdated. Rotting wood Frames on windows and balcony doors. Mold in shower and the bathroom smelled like pee. Dirty curtains, stained sheets. This is a one star. Night and afternoon they have trivia games or play loud music so if you need peace forget it because you have to close everything up to muffle it...

However, overall it was a disappointing experience for a 5* hotel, as it simply was not a 5* experience; same breakfast every day and often running out of items, tapas restaurant was very poor value for money with insufficient staff to run it, no pool service or extra pool towels available, you need a car as there is no beach access and no regular shuttle service, also at the beach there are no beds arranged for hotel guests.
