Property was exactly as advertised. Great view and had a lot of little extras, such as snacks and fresh eggs in the refrigerator! Worth the 16 hour drive to get there!
We loved our stay in the Deer Cabin. The views of the Beartooth Mountains were incredible and the cabin was very clean and cozy. It was a great way to experience Montana for the first time. We could see so many stars at night and the sunsets were beautiful.

Beautiful West Rosebud Valley
Great small cabin in West Rosebud Valley. All you need to enjoy adventures in the nearby area. Great porch.
The views are outstanding and you can drive right up to the base of all the mountains and hike everywhere. Lots of great streams to fish and plenty of fish. Day trip to the Lamar Valley in the Yellowstone was spectacular, lots of wildlife to see. Great place for a week or longer. The hosts were very accommodating too.
We were impressed with the cabin because although it was small it had everything we could need. It was clean, warm and comfortable. The views were amazing.
My hubby and I loved our stay in this cozy cabin. It's small, but it's got everything you need - and the views are spectacular! We spent every available minute relaxing on the front porch, watching the light change over the valley and listening to the Meadowlarks. Amazing!!
We were looking for a place with cheaper prices and with great views. We wasn’t expecting to see it from our cabin. We were expecting to see that view but from the drive in or walking down the road.
We felt like we were at a 5 star cabin resort. With some of things in the cabin.
Liked: Cleanliness, property conditions & facilities, communication
We enjoyed sitting out on the porch before sunset. In fact, as I write this review , I am sitting on the porch with the moon shining and the sound of the rushing water has gotten louder . Just peaceful!
This property was perfect for us. We needed a place to stay that was close to East Rosebud Lake as family filled our cabin and we needed a place to escape to. Check in was easy. The cabin is small but had everything we needed. The attention to detail with amenities was much appreciatedThe views are spectacular and sitting on the front porch in the evening with a glass of wine was delightful.
Love the' Dear' cabin. Great view, perfectly accessorized. Good communication with owners. Highly recommended to all coming to Fishtail and the surrounding area. Attention to detail appreciated
Even though the hosts were out of town, they had someone there to let me in when I foolishly locked myself out within 30 minutes. Well stocked kitchen, plenty of treats. Exceeded all expectations. Very reasonably priced for an expensive area, just remember that it is remote, 40 minutes to Red Lodge.
The cabin was smaller than expected and a bit crowded for the two of us and our 50 pound dog. Unless you're planning to spend a lot of time inside you should be fine. The porch was amazing - was up at 6 for coffee and a reading while listening to all the farm and wildlife.
We had reservations here in June 2022 but due to the flood that occurred in Yellowstone, we were not allowed in Yellowstone Park so therefore we had to cancel our reservations at Red Lodge (Fishtail).
After contacting owners and telling them that we were not able to make our reservation in 4 days since all roads were closed, we would like a refund. They refused to do that, so we had to contact our credit card company to receive a refund.
We did end up getting a full refund from credit card company but just be aware if you make reservations, you better make sure you don't have to cancel your reservations for any reason.
I could understand if we just changed our mind and didn't want to go but for an unforeseen reason that was out of our control and then declined a refund was not very businesslike on the owners part.
