Flagstaff Cabin in Forest near Lake Mary. Mountain Views. Pet-Friendly

This off-the-beaten-path cabin is a great place for a wilderness retreat. Located in the Coconino National Forest, the cabin is walking distance to the meadows of Lower Lake Mary and just a few miles drive to the water in Upper Lake Mary. Enjoy forest hikes, kayaking (3 kayaks and adult life jackets provided), horseshoes, board games, and mountain views. With plenty of windows for light, you are never far from nature. Relax in the Adirondack chairs on the front porch while enjoying your favorite beverage or dinner cooked up on the grill. Listen to old records, enjoy the VHS and DVD library, or stream your own channels on the smart TV with high-speed satellite internet.

One dog is allowed, subject to a $40 per-stay pet fee. Please contact the hosts if you need to bring more than one dog or another animal. Note that the cabin is unfenced in the forest. Guests are asked to pick up after their pet in order to deter animals and for the benefit of future guests.

Located only 12 miles from downtown Flagstaff and its shopping and dining. The cabin has high-speed satellite internet. Guests are asked to conserve and be mindful that the cabin is on hauled water and propane. The laundry facilities are for housecleaner use only unless needed in an emergency with advance notice to hosts (water tank levels permitting). No parties and no campfires allowed, regardless of weather and forest conditions.

The last four miles of road to the property are unpaved, so the property may be unavailable when there is heavy snow or mud. If the roads are impassible and the cabin inaccessible, we will let you know as soon as possible and provide a full refund. Please use the driving directions you will receive, as smart phone maps tend to take you onto closed roads.

Please note there is a doorbell camera and back floodlight camera used solely for safety/access purposes and to monitor weather/driveway conditions. They are not otherwise monitored.

Great quiet spot
My family of 5 (kids are 12, 9 and 6) had a great time while staying here. The location is off the beaten path but not too far away. The house had everything we needed and had a great layout that gave the kids space (upstairs) but also had a nice living area for us to all watch TV together at the end of the day. Would definitely recommend and would stay again.

Outstanding Stay!
Brad and Nicole thought of everything, even for our dog, Kylie! The home was fully stocked with everything you need for your stay. This cabin was on the side of a mountain, isolated from the rest of the world. The views were spectacular. This is a bird watcher's paradise!

Excellent place!
My family and I have been renting a vacation home every year and this was by far the best stocked place we've had. Charming retro decor, clean, gorgeous peaceful area. We so enjoyed watching the birds and wildlife from the beautiful deck. I would definitely go back we appreciated all the little extra touches. .

Solitude
Peace up in the pines! We're from Nevada, and what a pleasant escape from the heat! The location is perfect: you can be in Flagstaff in 15 minutes and Lake Mary in 10. We kayaked and loved it. We took road trips to Antelope, Horseshoe Bend, and the Grand Canyon. Simple. The cabin itself is excellent, and we loved the views!

Quiet cool retreat from desert heat
We really enjoyed the cabin, relaxing on the patio, feeling and hearing the wind blowing through the trees, bird watching, and walking the dogs. It was a great respite from the heat in Phoenix. The cabin's elevation meant cool mornings and evenings, and its location meant peace and solitude. The cabin had all the needed amenities; even in July, it stayed cool enough not to miss not having air conditioning. A previous reviewer complained about the bed in the master bedroom, which appears to have now been replaced with a firm and comfortable mattress. The upstairs loft is a giant space! We cooked all of our meals at the cabin, and didn't feel the need to leave, other than visiting the nearby country store, Lake Mary, and a disc golf course.

Great stay!
We really enjoyed our stay at this cabin! The directions the host gave about finding the cabin were detailed. The check in process was seamless. Incredible views of the San Francisco peaks. The proximity to Flagstaff was great. It was a great combination of being in nature but within 20 minutes of many restaurants and stores. We really hope that we can come back on the future as our kids thoroughly enjoyed their time here!

A hidden gem
This was a girls trip with my sister, but I would like to bring my husband and kids back. The directions were spot on, but GPS will get you there too. The cabin is spacious and has everything you could ever need. The Mountain View from the porch and 2nd floor are incredible. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are large. There are kayaks under the deck for your use. Lower Lake Mary was down quite a bit, so we didn’t go kayaking this trip, but would like to in the future. You will take about a 15 minute drive from the park to get to the cabin. I lost count of all the deer we saw along the way. The roads are bumpy but not hard to navigate. I loved watching the birds come to the bird bath on the porch. If you want serene and out of the way of town, this is it! No lake view but not far to get there. Flagstaff was about a 25 minute drive, but didn’t seem that far away either. The owners were super friendly and helpful. The story of Aunt Janine was so sweet as well, and I loved that we learned the history of the cabin. This truly is a hidden gem if you want spacious, relaxing, and comfortable.

A little slice of heaven
This was a wonderful home! We had a great time. The house was well stocked and very clean. The views were stunning. . The only feed back I would give is that the grill needs a deep clean or replacement. The master bedroom mattress was much too soft. We sunk in and it was not comfortable. So many nostalgic pieces in this home. Perfect for our family. We will be booking again next year!

Loved the beautiful mountain view
Directions made it easy to find. We were able to make the Grand Canyon a day trip and hike in Sedona too. There are lots of hiking trails near the cabin, but we found we had to drive a short way to access them. It was very quiet at the cabin and more room than needed for two people. We did not anticipate muddy roads, but we were able to navigate them in our rental car without issue.

Quiet Weekend Away
This was the perfect place for a quiet weekend away. It’s far enough off the beaten path to really allow you to feel like you are alone in the woods but still close enough to make a quick drive to Flagstaff and other places to make it convenient. House was very clean. Kitchen was really well stocked, my wife and I cook multiple meals and all the pans and utensils you would need were there. Will definitely recommend this place and may be back the next time we are heading to Flagstaff.

Cozy cabin in the woods
My boyfriend and I had a great time at this cabin. It is in such a quiet, peaceful area with a gorgeous view. It has plenty of room with everything you need to be comfortable. We didn’t even use the upstairs, but it is so cute and would be great for families with kids or bigger groups of people. Will definitely be coming back with my family!

Wonderful Place to Stay
My husband and I had a wonderful time. The house had a lot more room than we needed just for the two of us. The location is was drew us there. The house was clean and very home like, very comfortable. The view from the porch of the San Francisco Peaks is breathtaking. It was only a 20 minute drive to get to the Lowell Observatory. Lower Lake Mary, and Upper Lake Mary were just minutes away and Ashurst Lake about 30. It was so quiet on the porch, just the wind in the trees and the birds. We are looking forward to our next stay. We have definitely for our favorite place to stay when we visit Flagstaff.
