Our luxury chalet is on a large 12,000 sq ft heavily treed lot and is located south of Flagstaff in the quiet secluded village of Kachina. The village property borders the Coconino County National Forrest. It is an excellent retreat from the heat in the summer and snow play in the winter. Enjoy historic downtown Flagstaff and home of NAU just 9 miles away. The drive to the Grand Canyon is just 90 minutes away. Points of interest within 30 minute drive are Sedona, Oak Creek Canyon & Slide Rock State Park, Williams and Kaibab Lake, and Arizona Snowbowl Ski lodge. Places to see in the Parks area include the Lava Tube Caves, Sycamore Canyon, Key Hole Sink, Deer Farm and Oak Hill Snow Play Area. There are many great quad, dirt bike, hiking, biking and running trails for the outdoor enthusiasts. Other activities include hiking, cycling, running, mountain biking, fishing, hunting, golfing, skiing, dining, shopping, sightseeing, and star gazing. Flagstaff is a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts!

Description of the Chalet: Our completely remodeled 2-story cabin is 3000 sq. ft. including 600 sq feet of finished basement that we have turned into a game room and laundry facilities. The chalet has 4 bedrooms with beds for 9 which includes 2 king bedrooms, 1 queen bedroom and 1 room with a double lower bunk and a twin upper bunk. There is a convertible sofa / Bed in the downstairs living room that sleeps 2. There are also an air mattress, couches and leather recliner chair can be used for sleeping. The game room downstairs has a futon, that can be used for an extra bed. The chalet is beautifully decorated in warm earthy tones. Upstairs: master suite with new Tuft & Needle king bed, cable TV, dresser/closet and private spa bathroom with his/hers sinks and a jacuzzi tub/shower. Across the hall from the master is the kids' room with bunk beds, 2 dressers and a closet. The bunk beds could sleep 5 as the top is a twin and the bottom is a double, and the slide out is also a double. There is a full-service bathroom upstairs with a shower/sink/toilet. We also have a service room with a full-size chest freezer for extra food storage along with wire shelving for extra pantry items and storage for wet skis and clothes hangers! The living area has a large suede U shaped couch, 55' “Smart TV” (so you can stream!) HDTV flat screen wall mounted TV, cable with plenty of stations, Sony surround sound and Blu Ray DVD player with a selection of DVD's and I pod player. We also have a floor to ceiling gas fireplace! The dining area has a round oak table that comfortably seats 6 and 3 more can sit at the island with suede bar stools. The chef's kitchen is fully equipped with service for 12+ and features a gas range/oven/dishwasher/microwave/wine bar and refrigerator/freezer. The most welcoming feature about the upstairs is large end to end bay windows wrapping around the living/dining room with a full size walk out deck. The deck has table that seats 6 and a 4 -person lounge and firepit, there is a fabulous view of the SF Peaks! Downstairs: The 3rd bedroom has a queen bed, dresser and closet. The 4th bedroom has a queen bed, dresser, end table and closet. There is a full-size living area downstairs with a 46' flat screen HDTV with cable, a DVD player, 2 leather couches, a recliner/rocker, a Precor elliptical machine, a convertible sofa couch, and a chair/ottoman. There is a bathroom downstairs with a sink and toilet. Just off the living area is another full-size deck with a table and 4 chairs. It and steps down into the large fenced in tree lot yard! Lots of room for the kids and dogs, to run and play and pickup pinecones! Also, downstairs is the laundry room with a washer and dryer, a game room with a ping pong table, a futon and 5 chairs.

On-Site Amenities: We are WI-FI enabled with quick service. Parking provides plenty of room for 3-4 vehicles. Gas Fireplace in the upstairs living room with bay window views. Special detail went into the décor providing a calming palette with high end polished nickel hardware and designer finishings. There is no reason to worry about missing a workout as this chalet, has a stationary bike and a Precure Elliptical. Plenty of outdoor walking/running/biking trails. We are only 2 blocks from a very popular hiking trail deep into the forest. (Toho/Buffalo- right side starts the path) Our large decks would be a great place for your morning yoga or meditation as it's very quiet in our neighborhood. This is the kind of vacation retreat you will come back to again and again.

Activities and Attractions: Our main attraction is the Grand Canyon, a quick 1-1.5 hour drive away which makes for an easy day trip for hiking or riding a mule into the Indian Gardens. Perhaps you were the lucky ones to have tickets for river rafting through the canyon! On your way back to the chalet drive through Williams and grab some lunch and a fresh pie or stop at Bearizona! Williams has the Grand Canyon Railway featuring the Polar Express during the winter months which is wonderful fun for the kids, many fun restaurants, an indoor skate board park and Native American shopping.

Want to visit the beautiful red rocks of Sedona? We are only 30 minutes away! Prefer to stay close? Historical Flagstaff has many multi-cultural restaurants including local options and chains, great shopping and art galleries. Friday nights in downtown Flagstaff is the art walk with local musicians playing as you breeze about the stores. Family movies are also shown downtown, and you can pack dinner and eat/watch on the grass! Lowell’s Observatory and Meteor Creator are near Flagstaff. During the winter months there is downhill skiing at our famous Snowbowl Ski Resort. From spring to fall, take a ride to Sedona's Red Rock Canyon and Oak Creek Canyon. While there, hop on a Pink Jeep Tour or Hot Air Balloon ride over some of the most beautiful and unique scenery in our country. During the summer, pack a cooler and enjoy a day at Slide Rock State Park where kids slide along the rocks and adults’ sunbath or catch up on their reading on the many levels of flat rocks along the creek.

Nice cabin in Flagstaff
We greatly enjoyed our stay at this cabin in Flagstaff. Nice four bedroom home. Kitchen had everything we needed for cooking. The balconies have a great view and perfect place to unwind in the evening. Nice fenced in yard for our dog too . Ping-pong table in the playroom and lots of games and puzzles to enjoy! We will definitely be back.

Great Stay
We had a wonderful stay here for our wedding weekend! I love that the house had everything we needed and lots of space. The only thing I would say is it could use a deep clean and maybe something to get rid of the spiders in the lower level. Overall great experience!

Health and safety issue
Upon arrival, there were discoveries of many healthy and safety issues within the house. Such as a broken fire detector/ smoke detector on the wall with no cover, and an exposed outlet in the kids room. Also in the kids room, the bunk beds were unstable, not safe to sleep in. On the back deck there were broken chairs, if someone were sit they would fall through. When we spoke to the owner her response to remedy the situation was to put cushions on the broken seats. In terms of lack of cleanliness, the entire carpeting throughout the house was heavily soiled with permanent stains. When I spoke to the owner, prior to arrival, the owner said to disregard the carpeting because she was getting it removed after we stayed. This did not change the fact that we had to live in these conditions for the entire weekend that was planned well in advanced for my daughters wedding, and the embarrassment having family stay with us from out of town. It smelt like urine and mildew throughout the house making the stay an unhealthy and uncomfortable environment. I had asked for a price adjustment and her response was she would send out a carpet cleaner the day of my daughter’s wedding for carpet that was permanently stained. Finally she reluctantly she credited $150 which is the cleaning fee. That did not change the fact that the home was an unhealthy and unsafe environment and a pure embarrassment for a special occasion. There were not enough towels for the amount of guests listed to accommodate.

Good home base
We enjoyed our stay, the neighborhood and the house is well equipped. Summers are hotter in the mountains these days, and fans/ceiling fans just don’t cut it for me and my friends. So just be warned— there is no A/C.

Great Family Get Away!
Our family of nine and our two dogs enjoyed ourselves very much. Alice was very helpful and prompt to reply with any questions we had. The house was cozy and comfortable and big enough for all of us. There was a lot of snow which made it extra beautiful! It was close to downtown Flagstaff and very close to a fun place to park and sled down a hill. My son even climbed up and snowboarded down. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was nice and big and there was plenty of hot water for a shower. If I could add some constructive criticism, I'd say the home could use a deep cleaning.

2023 Winter Trip
The house is big we stayed over the weekend and my family and kids fit comfortably. Alice was great she replied to messages quickly. The location is perfect close to everything. She left the Christmas decorations up and it felt super cozy. We did have something suggestions/comments we noticed during our stay that may help in future stays. The heat system doesn’t circulate downstairs very well but the house has heaters which helped a lot since it was pretty cold. The freezer had a bad smell, so we didn’t use it and luckily brought our own coolers so it wasn’t a big issue. Last two of the toilets didn’t flush very well, but I don’t know if this was the pipes or something nothing extreme though. All in all I do recommend this property for big families during the winter time. The views are amazing as well! We really enjoyed our time here and made awesome memories. Thank you Alice for sharing your property with others. You truly made our 2023 get off on the right start.

Really the only thing I didn't like was there was no air conditioning. I didn't check, when booking if there was air conditioning because I thought (wrongly) that in Arizona the rentals had air conditioning. The main problem with this is I have asthma and can not sleep with outside night air. So I had problems getting to sleep, as did my husband because he could not open the windows to let in the cool air.

Vacation Time
The host had left us a bottle of wine and a big Hersey Bar and lots of coffee pods. There were spices in the cupboard to use . . which we appreciated. The kitchen counters were quite tall . . the island so tall I couldn't reach the middle of it. I'm almost 5'6". The vanity in the master was split . . but one was so high there is a little stepstool under the sink to use. Very unusual. The house is ok. We were disappointed that there are 2 bedrooms downstairs . . but only a half bath. 2 bedrooms upstairs & 2 full baths. The downstairs needs a full bath. The house needs a very good cleaning. There are spider webs and very visible dust on walls, windows, ceilings, baseboards . . a spider dropped into my shower . . whle I was showering. The patio furniture is threadbare . . the seats were so worn, we sat on bolts . . had to bring out throw cushions to put on chairs. There was no bbq grill. There were 3 TVs, but the remote control for the family room did not work. We were able to use the bedroom control, but that meant there wasn't one in the bedroom. It was still a pleasant stay, but the house needs a little attention and some items updated.
