Relive great moments in the exciting history of soccer in Brazil, the country with the most World Cup wins in the world.

Learn about the history of Brazil’s most popular sport at the Football Museum. Resting beneath the Estádio do Pacaembu, which once held several World Cup games, the Football Museum is a tribute to the sport. Familiarise yourself with the biggest names in Brazilian soccer, study its World Cup wins and experience the country’s passion for the game.

Enter the first room to be surrounded by huge posters of Brazilian soccer players from across the decades. Study the posters to discover the main teams and some of the most famous players.

Continue into the museum to learn about the history of soccer, starting with its earliest origins. The “beautiful game” began in Great Britain. By the end of the 19th century it had been played in Brazil. Learn how soccer developed from an Old World import to a favourite Brazilian pastime as you move through the museum.

Pacaembu Stadium was completed in 1940 and is a classic Brazilian soccer field. During the 1950 World Cup, several games took place here, including one home-game for Brazil. Book a ticket for a soccer game or a popular music concert at the stadium.

Browse the World Cup gallery for a multimedia introduction to the history of Brazil’s involvement in this international tournament. Brazil’s team has won the most World Cup series of any country, so its World Cup history is a triumphant one. Watch television footage presented on different screens to see game-changing plays from Brazil’s World Cup wins and losses. See famous national newspapers with the home team on the front page.

The football museum is located in the heart of the Pacaembu neighbourhood to the west of the São Paulo city centre. Come by bus, metro or taxi from throughout the city. Paid parking is available next to the stadium.

There is an admission fee. The museum is closed on Mondays and during stadium games.
