Loved everything about the place, and the booking experience. Have some tips for the property owners, for their consideration. The driveway is rather tight & overgrown for our vehicles/trailers/boats; causing some damage. As an experienced driver & naturalist, I would recommend some gentle pruning/removal of only weed species shrubs, to improve access & egress, for general use, or even in emergencies. No indigenous vegetation needs to be harmed. Removal only of the invasive Acacia longifolia subsp. sophorae (Coast Wattle) would vastly address/improve the situation. Acacia longifolia subsp. sophorae is a fast-growing native, indigenous to coastal dunes, along the Ninety Mile Beach, but has invaded the Gippsland Lakes heathland/woodland hinterland, much further inland from its natural range. It's best removed. Also, we noticed irrigation sprinklers coming on automatically every day, in the middle of the front yard bushland areas. This continuous irrigation will eventually kill all the remnant Banksia serrata Saw Banksia trees, as they are sensitive to waterlogging and associated waterborne root-rot Cinnamon fungus Phytophthora cinnamomi. The continuous irrigation will also only exacerbate the lush growth of understorey fine fuel load plants & biomass, thereby elevating summer fire risk/hazards. Best not to water the bush continuously, but maybe use the system for wetting down on fire danger days only.I also noticed a few South African ornamental grasses & irises that pose a risk of rapidly spreading as environmental weeds, threatening your bushland oasis. They should be hand-weeded before they establish as an uncontrollable infestation.Happy to be contacted by owners, if they're interested in discussing vegetation or bushland management any further.Cheers, George Paras 0419 430 997
