Arraial do Cabo lures visitors year round to its idyllic beaches and Forno Beach (Praia do Forno) is one of its finest. Join fellow beachgoers on the sugary white sand as you sunbathe beneath the warm sunshine at this pretty bay. Swim with a multitude of colorful ocean life, snap photographs worthy of a competition and dine at a floating restaurant at Forno Beach.
There are two ways to reach the beach. Taxi boats depart throughout the day from Forno Port for the short journey around a headland. Marvel at the panoramic image of a shimmering curve of sand backed by forest-clad hills as you enter the bay. The other option is to follow a trail that travels over the headland from the port. Pause to admire the top-down view before you make your descent.
Stroll along the shoreline until you find a quiet spot the further north you walk the fewer people you will encounter. Have fun building sand castles, working on your suntan and cooling off in the inviting crystal-clear water. The water is clean enough to spot myriad fish with the naked eye. Some boats provide snorkeling equipment, which will enhance your visibility and allow you to swim within touching distance of tropical sea creatures.
Restaurants and snack bars serve everything from acai bowls, pizzas and sandwiches to light refreshments and cold beers. Vendors also patrol the beach offering fresh coconut milk, fruit juices and ice creams. For a memorable dining experience, catch a boat to the floating restaurant. Feast on mouth-watering plates of fried fish, oysters, shrimp and other seafood dishes while being accompanied by sublime views.
The walk to Forno Beach from Forno Port takes just over 20 minutes. It’s a rocky, dirty trail, therefore it’s advisable to return before sunset. Arrive early to avoid the crowds, especially in the summer months. Weekdays and the winter months often attract smaller crowds.
