Historic Former Church in the Heart of Old Town

Welcome to The Sanctuary of Fort Collins. Built in 1902 and designated a historic landmark by the City of Fort Collins, this property has the distinction of being the home of seven different churches in its 100+-year history. We purchased the partially-renovated property in 2012, completed the renovation over the next few years and have since made it our full-time guest house. It features period-correct architectural elements, retains its original wood floors and stained glass, yet still provides the modern comforts of today.

There are three bedrooms, each with their own bath and all on separate levels. The main level of the house features an eat-in kitchen, the master bedroom and bath, an additional half bath, and the formal living room, which features my grandmother’s baby-grand Steinway, dating back to the late 1920s. The upstairs loft features a game room and the second bedroom and bath. The basement features a media room, wine cellar, office area, laundry room, and the third bedroom and bath. Outside you’ll find a quaint courtyard, gazebo and patio space for dining al fresco or simply enjoying the garden.

We use enhanced cleaning procedures and keep the property vacant a minimum of 24 hours between guests.

If there is anything we can do for you to make your stay more pleasant, please let us know. We live next door and are happy to help when we can. Please note the carriage house and garage are not available for rent and may be occupied by our own guests during your stay. However, do not expect any disruptions should this be the case.

Perfect Fort Collins Property
This old town gem is the perfect space for a group traveling together. Each of the three floors has its own separate bedroom and bathroom. The kitchen is not only well stocked but extremely organized. The bathrooms have extras of most basic items you may have forgotten. The owners are nearby and great to work with. This is our second time staying here but definitely not our last.

Well appointed.
Mark and Denise have added many special touches to this beautiful home including plenty of wooden hangers in the master closet, well stocked bathroom toiletries, and first class kitchen. This is the perfect place for an extended family to stay. Plenty of room to spread out. Love the character behind the house. The extra touches from the owners make your stay very comfortable. Homemade cookies at check in, shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothbrush, makeup remover, and so much more to list. Definitely home away from home. Location and parking was awesome. Incredible stay
I can not say enough about how wonderful our stay was this weekend. The home has so many personal touches including homemade cookies upon our arrival. It is a perfect location close to campus and old town and absolutely beautiful and immaculately clean. If my daughter wasn't graduating, we would stay here every time we come to Fort Collins.

Thanksgiving in Fort Collins-Awesome!!
This was the perfect gathering spot for our family for thanksgiving! The accommodations are absolutely lovely and we had everything we could have wanted! The home was immaculate. The beds were very comfortable and the movie space in the lower level was so fun to have for gathering for a movie at night. We also loved that we could walk to Old Town and enjoyed many restaurants. Great stay in Fort Collins!
My family of 4 had a great stay while visiting for Thanksgiving. Mark is a WONDERFUL host. Communication was great and we were greeted with cookies and a clean, warm home with the lights on! This fun, unique, house had everything we needed - plenty of room for our family, a fully stocked kitchen, extra blankets, comfortable beds, extra toiletries, and plenty of room to store our food and clothing. It snowed the day we were leaving and Mark shoveled all the walkways for us! Looking forward to staying here again next time we’re in Fort Collins.

Beautiful house, great location!
This property is outstanding! It 's within walking distance of Old Town Fort Collins.It was beautifully decorated. The patio was outstanding. The house has 3 bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths, so it's the perfect size for 6 people. There are 3 living areas so you never feel crowded. The owners were very helpful and welcoming. We loved it! We hope to return soon!

The Sanctuary
This stunning home surpassed all expectations. From the numerous living spaces to the beautiful courtyard, we had more than enough room to spread out and relax when we weren’t out enjoying everything Fort Collins has to offer. The kitchen was fully equipped and everything was in perfect condition. Coffee was provided for the Keurig machine which was appreciated by all. Each bathroom was exceptionally clean had a nice assortment of toiletries. Mark and Denise take great pride in their property and were great hosts!

Wonderful!
This was one of our top rentals in over 12 years of travels. The location was really close to Old Town, definitely within walking distance. The house itself is beautifully appointed, comfortable, and loaded with amenities. The three bedroom suites are on separate floors, making it ideal for 3 friends or 3 couples. We enjoyed the outdoor space for morning coffee, the loft area for playing cards, and the movie room for relaxing. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. I highly recommend this property!

50th Roommate Reunion
We had a great stay, the provisions were great. The only short comings were: 1) We couldn't locate any cushions for the patio chairs. 2) The downstairs bed was way too soft, one person had to sleep on the couch because she couldn't tolerate it but that worked just fine for her. Knives weren't real sharp, but that's minor. It was a beautiful home.

Wonderful property and location!!
We had planned to stay with our 2 kids, but our plans changed so we ended up just the 2 of us in this wonderful house. However, there would have been more than enough room for all of us. The house is gorgeous with a rich history, and Mark and Denise have provided every possible amenity. We especially appreciated the tempurpedic mattress in the master bedroom (my wife has connective tissue issues and a comfortable bed is a must) and the provided blender (which we find is often lacking in short term rental properties). The home was immaculate on our arrival, complete with a plate of fresh baked cookies! Mark and Denise were very responsive with all our questions. Of course, the proximity to Old Town cannot be beat. The next time we come back to Fort Collins (and we come at least once per year to visit family) we will definitely want to stay here!

Very Best Rental!
I've rented from VRBO a number of times in several states within the past 10 years, and this home tops the list! I wish I could give it 10 stars! Our stay could not have been better -- booking the home, seamless arrival specifics, extremely prompt responses from the owner, and just all the attention to details. The owners are so very kind. We arrived to freshly baked cookies and a pristine home! The location is absolutely wonderful -- so close to the wonderful, charming downtown area of Ft. Collins, parks, restaurants, etc. Everything we needed was just minutes away. It was also less than 45 min. from Wyoming, where we spent a day feeding bison at a ranch and exploring Cheyenne a bit. This home was just perfect to spend the week with our 2 children and their young families. There are so many things to enjoy in this part of north Colorado, but our favorite time together was enjoying dinner in this lovely home each evening! We already know we cannot wait to return to Ft. Collins and hopefully stay in this home once again.
