"This property is amazing! It reminds me of something out of a fairy tale. Our room was unique and beautifully decorated. The staff was exceptional. "Casa de Canilhas is a tucked away treasure in the heart of the Douro valley. A bit hard to find at first but once you're there it's worth a visit. There are no common indoor areas so you stay in your room or on a private terrace but can share the gorgeous outdoor pool. Breakfast is served to you in your room. Unfortunately, there was work being done in the building next to my casita: the noise and radio started at 8 AM which detracted from the peace and magic of the area"

"A very old and tired hotel. Room had not been aired for a long time so smelled damp and musty - I had to open the window as soon as I entered the room. Old furniture, old and dilapidated bathroom / shower. Span and gym not available. Swimming pool available but costs €18 for a swim! I dont expect to pay as a guest of the hotel. "This Quinta exceeded our expectations. It is situated in a rural and beautiful area. There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance. There’s also a much larger town not too far from the Quinta, called Penafiel. The villa where we stayed had a breathtaking view of both the vineyard and river.
