Very uncomfortable place
Unfortunately, I have to give this property 2 stars, the extra star mostly just for the convenience of the location. The online pictures made the house look eclectic but still cute, upon arriving however, the house felt very cluttered and there was a strong odor of cat urine or something similar. There was dust and grime around the doorways, no fan in the very small bathroom or bedroom, and we saw 2 large bugs in the first 15 minutes (which I have photos of). It ended up just feeling entirely too uncomfortable so we booked a hotel for our stay instead. It was a bummer because this place wasn’t cheap. There’s just too many other rentals in Fredericksburg to book a poor one such as this one.

Great property, awesome management and wonderful stay. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The location was perfect. On our second day we walked to every area we visited because of the perfect location. We highly recommend this property. The hospitality was great.

Convenient, walking distance to main street, easy parking, & safe. Lousy continental breakfast (packaged cereal, milk & Miss Debbie snacks) and owner not the friendliest individual. Had an issue with toilet flushing, informed owner and owner left plunger in hallway or us to remedy ourselves.

As advertised..
The pictures in the listing were accurate. However, pictures do not tell the whole story. The mattress was small and a bit soft. Air temperature control was a thermostat in a public hallway. "Breakfast" was truly minimal...more like a couple of snack bars.

Unkept & unclean not deserving of Super host or current rating
We booked this property for two nights and didn't make it through one restful night. The outside of the property is disgusting, along with the dusty unkempt interior. The roof must have loose pieces because it kept us up all night. The other couple across the hall left after one night too. The bed and toilet alone were disgusting and not to mention the nasty mold tub and shower curtain. I could not go in that bathroom. I wish I could show you photos of the toilet. The breakfast portion of this stay was a Christmas tree little Debbie cake and sugar cereal you eat out of the cup with one fork available! Hahaha! The bed is unexplainable, and I question the cleanliness of the sheets and dingy towels. The sky lights are filthy. It's a good mile walk to the main street center. The homes around it are groomed and well kept. I want my money back for the second night and for this person to be removed as a super host. Pathetic, and this was my birthday trip to Fredericksburg that ended too early!

Cozy Getaway
Location is Great for shopping & eating downtown! Within walking distance if you don’t want to drive! We had a small issue in our room the morning after we arrived. I talked to the property manager and the issue was taken care of immediately while we were out shopping. When we arrived back to our room there was a really sweet note and flowers for us!! Would definitely stay here again!

I want to be objective, but never mean. Owner was kind enough, but property/room is not as clean as it should be. Breakfast could be improved. It was basically box kids cereal and little debbie snacks left in room (with milk). When owner cooks breakfast downstairs, you get strong smells of bacon for example...but you don't get to eat it. Same for the fish that was cooked one evening. I mean no ill will, but there would need to be some changes to have this ranked higher. I do wish the owner all the best.

Great location downtown. Charming old home.
This place has a lot of charm. Wonderful original paintings on every wall. Cozy warm sitting rooms downstairs. Beautifully appointed. Would have liked to enjoy sitting outside in the garden we saw in the photos, but the garden had been neglected; leaves piled up and sitting areas unappealing. Maybe a temporary issues because some exterior work was being done on the building. Also the couch in the living room (of the unit East) not as comfy and large as in the photos, but adequate and stylish.

Quaint and homey
Needed a place to stay to experience the town. Didn’t spend a lot of time in the room. Not the newest, most updated space, but is clean, has character and is still inviting (and is priced as such). Close to downtown, but was a little far to walk so we would still drive and then walk the “strip.” In a world where almost everything is always new and perfect, the quaint authenticity was welcomed.

Fredericksburg Gillespie House-
The property was dirty, dated, dingy and looked nothing like that presented on VRBO. My fiancee and I arrived and were in disbelief that this was the same place we had booked online. After a short (20 minute stay), we decided to return home. Tried calling VRBO to discuss our issues but could not get any refund. I do not recommend that you stay here.

Amazing Stay
