Fuente del Gallo Beach is one of the larger beaches along the section of the scenic Costa de la Luz that is close to the popular vacation town of Conil de La Frontera. Spend a day here enjoying its golden sands, blue waters and beautiful cliffs.
This beach is a good place for an all-day excursion as, unlike some of the other, smaller coves in the area, Fuente del Gallo has a range of places to eat just at the top of the cliffs. Otherwise it is reasonably undeveloped, which makes it a charming place to unwind. Come here for an early-morning stroll before the other visitors arrive and there is a good chance you will be alone with your thoughts.
Spread out your towel on the sand and settle down for a day of sun and relaxation. The roughness of the water varies, but the waves are often calm enough for a swim, even if you have children with you.
When you are ready for a change of scenery, take the time to explore the surrounding area. Head up to the top of the cliffs to explore the various bars, hotels and accommodations located inland. To the northwest are smaller, rocky beaches such as Cala Melchor. Many of these are nudist beaches and tend to be quiet due to the difficulty in accessing them.
Walk to the southeast instead and you will reach the beautiful historic center of the town of Conil de la Frontera. Be sure to bring your camera along so you can snap photos of the quaint winding lanes, lined with white buildings that are often laden with flowers. Enjoy the range of eating and drinking options offered by the town, and stop by historic sites such as the Torre de Guzmán (Tower of Guzmán).
Visit Fuente del Gallo Beach on a weekday morning to find it at its most peaceful. Stay in one of the upscale hotels located at the top of the cliffs, or choose Conil de la Frontera for a wider range of accommodations.
