Short-ish stay
Absolutely wonderful, we were so well looked after and had a perfect time staying here. Stunning location, kids loved the pool overlooking Funchal, easy to find and park a rented car etc, great range of amenities nearby as well as being a short drive from many big attractions. Would highly recommend and stay again if possible!

O local que nos hospedamos é bastante agradável. Tranquilo e bem localizado para explorar a ilha. Local limpo e com boa estrutura. À comunicação com o Luis foi muito fácil e eficaz. A vista da área da piscina é realmente fantástica, infelizmente pensávamos que teríamos esta vista do local que alugamos, inclusive com uma varanda. Este ponto poderia ficar um pouco mais claro na descrição. De resto foi tudo muito bom.

Superbe logement mais un louable les semaines de la festa saint roque
Le logement est superbe mais malheureusement nous sommes tombés sur les semaines de la festa saint roque la semaine avant et après le 15 août. Nous avons eu droit à 10 jours de concert à moins de 100 m de la maison tous les soirs jusqu’à 1h du matin . Nous sommes malheureusement rentrés fatigué au bout de 15 jours de vacances. Dommage que nous n’avions pas été averti avant ce logement n’est pas louable pendant cette période sauf pour de grands fêtard En dehors de cette période la maison est très belle,le propriétaire accueillant. Elle est bien située pour visiter madère. Dommage mais non avons quand même passé un bon séjour sur l’île et découvrir tous les soirs l’esprit de fête de ses habitants

Séjour en famille à Madeire
Très jolie maison, très bien située juste un peu en hauteur par rapport à Funchal, facilement accessible aussi en bus ou en taxi. Vue fantastique et les enfants ont adoré la piscine. Seul bémol: notre bungalow était un peu juste pour une famille de 4 personnes (d autres sont disponibles cependant). Merci à Luis pour son accueil. A ne pas manquer à côté de la petite église à 100m une jolie place avec café et vue panoramique, ainsi que les deux restaurants.

Maison typique, belle vue et pratique
Excellent accueil de Luiz (qui parle très bien français, c'est un plus pour les touristes francophones). Excellents conseils de sa part. Maison typique de Madère : jolie architecture, peu de terrain disponible, belles vues sur la mer et le versant urbanisé. Maison parfaite pour deux, avec de beaux objets à l'intérieur. Quelques équipements pourraient être modernisés, mais rien d'important. Nous n'avons pas profité de la piscine, la météo de février étant un peu fraîche, mais nous avons passé un peu de temps sur la terrasse supérieure, où le calme est reposant. La maison est idéalement située : au calme dans un "vrai" quartier où les gens habitent, à côté de commerces et d'un bon restaurant, à moins de 10 minutes du centre de Funchal, et avec la possibilité de prendre rapidement les routes rapides ou touristiques sans passer par le centre-ville. En conclusion, un excellent séjour !

New Year break in Sao Roque
Had a fantastic 4 night break here for New Year’s Eve, staying at this property made the fireworks display even more amazing as the view from the pool terrace / garden was simply magnificent! Both Luis and Isabel made us both feel very welcome and at home we will definitely return to stay again hopefully next time for longer break / holiday. It was very nice treat for us as it was first time we have been overseas for new year celebrations and Funchal is the place to be for that without a doubt we counted 13 cruise ships in the harbour area also to witness the amazing fireworks display. The property is real Madeira character, beautiful, peaceful and very comfortable. Good location as out of Funchal so wonderful to experience life in a Madeiran village , bus into town are very reliable and only 10 minutes to get down the quaint windy roads into Funchal and the taxi back was always very reasonably priced we felt (less than 10 euros) loved our stay and cannot wait to return and special obrigado to Luis and Isabelle for the bottle of Champagne and Cake to bring in the New Year celebrations very thoughtful and amazing hosts, many thanks Dave & Jane

Sao Roque
We very much enjoyed our one week stay at Sao Roque. Sao Roque is north of Funchal but is within the urban area. We hired a car but there is a bus stop almost outside the property also taxis are plentiful and Uber started operating that week (Nov 2019) . The apartment was clean and well equipped with a comfortable bed. Although it is in a built up area the property is very private with a lovely garden including a sun terrace and decking with panoramic views. There is a good restaurant and a local cook your own Barbecue both within 30 yards , much cheaper than Funchal centre. Luis the owner was very helpful but not obtrusive. I would definitely recommend.

I really enjoyed the property. Very quaint.
I was a little bit disappointed as I thought we were going to be round the pool but we were at the back of the property. Overall though I enjoyed our holiday and Isabel and Luiz were wonderful landlords. We would definitely go back.

Ile très belle. Montagne et jolie ville de funchal.
Luis est un hôte très à l écoute des vacanciers et qui sait prendre le temps de les accueillir. Ses conseils nous ont permis de découvrir une partie de l île en randonnant et en utilisant les transports en commun. Typisch Madeira?
Einer sehr freundlichen Begrüßung und fürsorglichen Einweisung unseres Vermieters folgte dann die Ernüchterung. Der uns angebotene Bungalow (ein historischer Wasserspeicher), zweifelsohne eine sehr aparte Unterkunft, war schlicht unbewohnbar, da das Gebäude einige Tage zuvor einen Wasserschaden zu verzeichnen hatte, bei dem sich der Boden vollsog und die Wände leicht feucht wurden. Dies fiel zunächst nicht so auf, da der gewaltige Muff von extremen Duftstäbchen überlagert wurde. Spätabends reklamierten wir und bekamen eine andere Ferienwohnung angeboten. Diese war jedoch erst am Folgetag abends beziehbar, so eine Person die Nacht teilweise auf einer Liege im Freien verbrachte. Die Situation war dem Hausherrn sichtlich unangenehm, prompt seine Reaktion, dreist jedoch sein Versuch, erst mal zu testen, wie die Kunden reagieren. In dem Ersatzdomizil reihten sich die Räume aneinander, die Küche hatte eine sehr eigene, nicht unbedingt attraktive Geruchsnote, beim Duschen musste man schnell machen, da sonst die Wanne überlief, eine "Ausblicksmöglichkeit“ war überhaupt nicht vorhanden, insgesamt eine sehr durchschnittliche Übernachtungsmöglichkeit. Positiv die obenliegende Terrasse, die einen herrlichen Rundumblick erlaubte (wenn das Wetter mitspielte). Es wäre noch anzumerken, dass wir uns als „Winter-Reisende“ sehr wohl über die klimatischen Verhältnisse klar waren und eben aus diesem Grunde auf eine gute Ferienwohnung Wert legten (diese genossen wir in der 1. Aufenthaltswoche im Westen der Insel). Beim vorliegenden Objekt boten die herrlichen Außenbereiche aufgrund der Jahreszeit keinen sonderlichen Nutzwert. Dass man zum WLan-Empfang ins Freie gehen musste, sei hier nicht auf die Goldwaage gelegt. Unserer Unterkunft schloß sich direkt eine weitere Ferienwohnung an, die tip-top renoviert und ausgestattet war. Leider war diese schon belegt, also offensichtlich vermietbar. Dem Vermieter möchte ich ans Herz legen, eine klare und eindeutige Präsentation seines Objektes einzustellen, damit man sich als Kunde auskennt, was wo ist. Die aktuellen Bilder tragen nämlich gehörig zur Verwirrung bei. Die Spezifikation dient auch nicht gerade der Verständlichkeit.

Klasse Unterkunft mit zuvorkommenden Vermietern
Es spricht für sich, dass wir schon zum zweiten Mal in der selben Unterkunft waren. Zum Schlafen ein gutes Bett, zum Frühstücken eine wundervolle Aussicht von der Terrasse, für Tagestouren über die Insel eine geniale Busanbindung ins Zentrum von Funchal und im Bungalow genug Gemütlichkeit und authentisches Colorit um sich wie im Urlaub zu fühlen. Die Verständigung mit den Vermietern gelingt in gutem Englisch und beide sind allzeit um unser Wohl bemüht. Wir können das Quartier gern weiterempfehlen. Außenbereich sehr schön, Bungalow weniger
Es gibt mehrere Einheiten und das durch die Vermieter selbst bewohnte Haus. Dies ist auf dem 1. Foto abgebildet, was verwirrend ist, da man erwarten würde, dass das Foto den zu vermietenden Bungalow zeigt. Das Außengelände, das für alle zur Verfügung steht, ist sehr schön. Toller Blick über Funchal und auf das Meer von der Terrasse am Pool aus. Auch direkt vor dem Bungalow gibt es einen Tisch, z.B. zum Frühstücken. Praktisch ist die Anbindung – Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und Bushaltestelle in der Nähe. Wir hatten allerdings ein Auto und haben die Busverbindungen nicht getestet. Schön: Schlafbereich, Qualität der Bettdecken, Handtücher; Obstkorb zur Begrüßung, Reinigung/Handtuchwechsel Der Bungalow selbst ist aber zumindest bei kühlerem Wetter (bei unserem Aufenthalt Ende Januar war es häufig bewölkt und kühl) nicht besonders geeignet. Zwar hat er eine Klimaanlage, die auch heizt. Die warme Luft konzentriert sich allerdings auf der oberen Ebene, dem Schlafbereich. Unten im Wohnbereich, zirkulierte stattdessen kühlere Luft. Vor allem sollte man sich aber bewusst sein, dass es unten im Wohnbereich keine Fenster gibt, d.h. man hat drinnen null Ausblick nach draußen, wenn man sich nicht gerade oben im Schlafbereich aufhält. Bei gutem Wetter ist das vielleicht nicht so wichtig, weil man sich dann viel auf der schönen Terrasse aufhalten kann. Aber an kühlen Tagen macht es wenig Spaß, wie im Keller zu wohnen. Erst recht, wenn man sich auf der Insel umschaut, wo gefühlt 80 % der Unterkünfte einen tollen Ausblick auf’s Meer haben … Weitere Nachteile: Innenliegendes Bad hat nicht nur keine Fenster, sondern auch keine Lüftungsanlage. Drinnen gibt es keinen guten Platz zum Essen – nur die abgebildete kleine Theke, das ist aber nicht bequem, auch das Sofa ist nicht besonders bequem zum Sitzen. Kein Backofen. Ärgerlich: Falsche Angaben in der Beschreibung, z.B. ist der Bungalow kleiner als angegeben. Anders als behauptet, hat er keine Stereoanlage/Musikbibliothek, keinen Kamin (nur Grillplatz draußen), keinen Computer und kein W-Lan/kabelloses DSL (das gibt es nur draußen am Pool) und kein 2. Badezimmer (braucht man zu zweit zwar nicht, aber es sollte trotzdem nicht behauptet werden, es gebe zwei, wenn es nicht stimmt …)

Location très agréable
Location très agréable. Luiz, le propriétaire, nous a accueilli chaleureusement, et fait part de ses riches connaissances sur l’île et son histoire. "L'appartement" est joliment aménagé, lumineux. La vue du haut de Funchal est très agréable. Location calme, se situant à 10 minutes en voiture du centre ville de Funchal. Nous garderons de très bons souvenirs de notre passage sur l’île.
