Grizzly Den - Above the River! Yellowstone mountain views and Air Conditioning!

The Grizzly Den is an amazing place to call home during your visit to Montana. Come play in Yellowstone and the Gardiner Basin-Paradise Valley! Rafting, horseback riding, hot springs, fishing, hiking, dining, cross county skiing, wildlife viewing, and of course Yellowstone Park is all accessible within minutes. We will help you plan a great trip! This Air Conditioned 2 bedroom home has two additional separate loft areas for adding sleeping. We are located above the banks of the Yellowstone River and less than a mile from the north entrance to Yellowstone. We are in the heart of Gardiner, MT making it an easy evening stroll to local dining and shopping; or stay back and enjoy grilling on the deck over looking the river.
The house has 18 windows facing south into the park highlighting the stunning views of 11,000 ft Electric Peak. You can literally look out the windows, or off the deck and see: elk, antelope, deer, and occasionally bears and wolves roaming the hillsides of Yellowstone. Bring your binoculars!
We are located about an hour from the Bozeman Airport.

Family getaway
Nice place to stay. The only reason I gave 4 stars on the neighborhood is because the parking is pretty tight especially if you have multiple vehicles. It's clean and you have a nice view of the river and mountains.

Perfect to explore!
Great location to North Yellowstone! Host was great at responding to us before and during our stay! Neat town! We went during off season the week before everything opens back up but loved that we timed it this way as it was not filled with tourists and avoided all crowds! Highly recommend!

Nice central location. The cabin was very nice but shy on parking. Our only gripe is the water lines in the main bathroom are switched so it gives hot when it should be cold.

What a staircase!
Very nice property. Didn't realize the tightness of the staircase; several adults didn't want to stay upstairs because of it (more room for me!).

Amazing stay
We had a great trip. Location was conveniently located near the north entrance to the park. Check in and check out process was very easy. The owner replies very promptly if you have any questions. The house was very cute and perfect for a family. The only small challenge was parking. Parking was very tight and we had a large SUV. Would absolutely stay again.

Nice, close walking distance
Very convenient! Parking is tight but manageable. Super clean. One word of advice, only one bedroom on main floor all other beds up a very narrow but super cute spiral staircase. I would rent this place again.

Family Trip
Great cabin and location to restraints, shopping, and excursions. It is so close to Yellowstone Park’s north Entrance! The teens enjoyed a private room upstairs and a loft area to hang out in. Parking was a bit tight and living area is small and not much room to sit—but worked ok for us. Overall very accommodating and perfect for our family of 5! Could have taken another family with us.

Clean, Cozy, Comfortable, Convenient.
Grizzly Den was everything we wanted and needed. Close to the north gate of Yellowstone. Every modern convenience you’d need. More than ample for our family of four adults to sleep comfortably. They even had a Christmas Tree set up for us(we arrived on Christmas Day do that was a nice feeling). Excellent communication too. If we come to Gardiner again, we hope to stay here.

Great location - beautiful house
The Grizzly Den was a fabulous spot for our family (2 adults and 2 teenagers) to stay during our Yellowstone vacation. The beautiful setting along the Yellowstone river as well as the convenience to the Park were just part of the story. We loved the deck and wonderful grill so we could enjoy home cooked dinners soaking in the beauty of the country. We could easily walk to shops and restaurants in Gardiner when we didn't feel like cooking. The proximity to the Flying Pig is great if you plan to do rafting, horseback riding, fly fishing, etc. The house is beautifully laid out, and the loft area was great for the kids.

Nice home with a great view
Home sits above the Yellowstone river and has a great view of the river as well as the area around Yellowstone park. Wildlife is plentiful throughout the area. We saw elk, deer, buffalo, and river otters. The north entrance to the park was closed due to flooding so we were limited to Gardiner but it has a charm of it's own. Overall we had a great time.

Great Place
Grizzly Den is a nice place to stay! VRBO hidden fees are a bummer. Paid much more than was listed online. Don't mind paying for things, just tough to stomach the extras and fees after things have been booked up and payments have started. Why can't all of these things be listed up front?

We would have liked to use the AC since it was unusually warm the days we were there. The owner never communicated that the AC wasn’t working. Sleeping on the second floor required opening the windows. As we were packing up to leave a crew of repair men arrived ready to do substantial work on it so I suppose the next renter would have a better stay. BTW, there were four trash cans. All were full when we arrived and were overflowing for two of three days. Sorry I couldn’t rave about the whole stay. The porch over the river was wonderful. The parking was in a tight alley with junk from the businesses on the opposite side strewn along most of the alley. That was a little disappointing.

Hard to find
There is NO CAR WASH ... its a garage now. We had a hard time finding this rental. Its not a stand alone, there are several units. Nice home ... lots of sleeping options but prop manager wasnt responsive when needed.

Beautiful views from the back porch! Great place to stay while visiting Yellowstone.
My family of five stayed here for three nights in August while visiting Yellowstone. I had definitely wanted to stay in Gardiner because I had heard such positive things about the town. This home was literally a five minute walk to many restaurants and the Roosevelt entrance of the park. There is also a grocery store that we walked to. We loved the back porch and sat outside listening to the river. The back porch is connected to the back porch of another cabin, but those guests stayed on their side and we stayed on ours and it wasn’t a problem. I had read reviews that the staircase inside was tight, and it was, but it wasn’t a problem for our tall family. We did have to leave our luggage on the main floor because it would not fit going up the staircase, but that wasn’t a big deal. The host had everything ready for us and was easy to communicate with. I had also read that the parking was tight, but we had a large Ford Expedition and just parked parallel to the house as close as we could and we had no problems. And the drive from Yellowstone to Gardiner is really pretty and we enjoyed driving through Mammoth and seeing the elk walking around on our way back-and-forth. I had read how the entrance to West Yellowstone was always crowded with people coming and going, but I never felt like that driving back-and-forth to Gardiner. We really enjoyed our stay here and would stay here again!

Liked: Communication, location
Extremely hot
There wasn't any air conditioning. The swamp cooler filters were dirty, so they weren't working. They didn't provide trash bags. The owner wasn't very nice about my concerns. We wouldn't recommend this place to anyone if it is during hot months.

Fall Yellowstone Family Weekend
The location of this home was ideal, right in the middle of Gardiner and less than 5 minutes from the park entrance! The house is quirky and kitchy, but clean and has most everything you could ask for available. Our one big complaint is that the beds are all lacking. The 2 queen sized beds are raised up so high that they are literally difficult to get into. For my 80 year old parents it was bordering on dangerous. The upstairs queen bed desperately needs to be replaced as it has a valley in the middle and is impossible for 2 adults to sleep in together. If the only other people staying at this place are children then the other beds are fine, but they are either mattresses on the floor or very small twin beds. All in all it is a cute place, but if you are looking for quality sleep this may not be the ideal accommodation for you.
