Secluded getaway, 2BR, near Fossil Rim, 900 acres, hiking, farm animals

Self check-in now available!

Book for 4 nights, 4th night is free!

Between hanging out and exploring our 900 acres full of trails, ravines, rest areas, and breathtaking vistas, and all that Glen Rose has to offer, you will have plenty to do all summer!

Retreat yourself, inside and out! Indulge in our infra-red sauna, built-in atrium, sunshine deck, outdoor showers, labyrinth and roam our 900+ acres, next to Fossil Rim!

Kasa Casa is our fun, offbeat, 'land-yacht' 2 bdrm/1.5 bath house for getaways and sanctuary. Located on hill country-like terrain with miles of trails, Kasa Casa offers perfect privacy for couples, small families, artists (studio next door), and anyone wanting a getaway, personal wellness/cleansing retreat, or me/us time.

Guests can see a small portion of the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center drive-through from the back yard, lucky visitors have seen giraffe browsing and zebras grazing!

This house was designed by a tinkerer and yacht builder! We’ve built a studio next door for musicians, yoga enthusiasts, dancers and others to use.

The main floor is an open area with the kitchen, conversation area, dining table and recently updated in partnership with Sanctuary for Life, a non-profit providing special care to caregivers. The hall leading to the upstairs also brings you to a half-bath and the laundry room area with an infra-red sauna.

Upstairs is the main bedroom with a door onto the sunshine deck, the full bath (shower only) and another living area with a wood-burning stove. The Crow’s Nest bedroom is perched over the living area.

There is covered parking, and a covered patio with a huge Fossil Stone table and bench and propane grill. Jill Sablosky limestone art benches grace the labyrinth area in the front yard. Tom Tischler's bronze, life-sized Galapagos Tortoise greets guests and provides The "Kasa" -Swahili for turtle - in Kasa Casa!

Kasa Casa is just under a mile off the county road which takes you to Fossil Rim’s Overlook and into Glen Rose, but far enough off the road for quiet and solitude.

Kasa Casa is a great starting point to explore the 26 miles of fossil-laden trails on our organically and sustainably managed 900-acre Ranch and Sanctuary.

At Kasa Casa you’ll find:
• About 1200 sq feet indoors in our multi-level house.
• Our biodynamic garden, labyrinth, sculpture garden and enclosed studio just outside the front door
• Old ranch buildings and equipment nearby for fun photographic backgrounds
• 2 upstairs bedrooms with queen beds, and an extra single futon.
• 1 bathroom upstairs (no tub) and the ½ bathroom just up from the main floor.
• Central heat/air, 1 wood-burning stove
• Dishes for 8, nicely equipped kitchen for cooking, preparing meals, gas stove and oven
• A dishwasher
• An outdoor gas grill, propane supplied.
• Indoor and patio tables seat 6 people each.
• Ranch and nature adventures, tours and experiences are available by pre-arrangement. We’ll orient you to our trails for self-guided fun, or with reservations you can schedule fun activities such as feeding our goats and meeting their guard donkey, Zoey, and seeing our other farm animals (chickens and pigs!).
• Our most remote guest house, Mata’Zamo (see VRBO #3589655ha) has a 3-stall horse barn, 2 pens and a pasture right out the door, along with miles of trails. Our 5 bedroom house also has a pasture and covered shed, but it’s bring your own horse!
• High speed internet is available. Kasa Casa’s library reflects our interest in healthy living, sailing, nature, philosophy, wildlife and a healthy landscape.
• We have a total of four guest houses available, spread out across the ranch. Each one is unique enough to provide a very different experience, and can be rented together for large groups, retreats and workshops. Habari (VRBO #432534) is our biggest guest house, with 5 bedrooms and extra futons to sleep as many as 16, it is great for larger groups. Mata’zamo (VRBO# 3589655ha) sits on one of our most spectacular overlooks, is our most remote house, great for singles couples or a family that want to lose themselves in the outdoors.

We welcome you in a way that feels like home away from home, you'll find familiar touches from your own kitchen, including tea, coffee, spices, paper towels, plastic bags - the basics, and maybe new things to try.
Ask us about our NEW farm store! We offer rainbow pasture eggs, fresh produce, USDA grass-fed ground beef, garden salsa, balm jellies, and more!

Our ranch has been managed organically for over twenty years, we keep our houses as non-toxic as possible, too.

It is easy to get lost at Kasa Casa and ranch, lost in thought, lost in time, lost from stress and the city life! All of this and just 90 minutes south of the Dallas-Ft Worth area! We invite you to stay at Kasa Casa or any of our four guest houses, it’s the best cure we know for nature deficit disorder!!!

If you would like early check-ins or late check outs, let us know, and we will send you a special offer ($100 per 2 hour extra block).

NOTE: Kasa Casa is located next door to our multi-purpose studio and our Resilience Garden. While we will not schedule large events in the studio separate from rentals, there will be times when High Hope will offer small workshops and classes in the garden and/or studio. Our rental guests are always welcome to attend, often at a discount! If you want absolute privacy, please inquire about any upcoming events that may be scheduled nearby. You can also rent the studio by the day for events/parties.

Absolutely Wonderful and Peaceful
The owner was very responsive and quick to answer all my questions. The property was very peaceful and a beautiful area. It was closely situated near Dinosaur Valley State Park and Fossil Rim which we visited and enjoyed. The stay here also allowed for a discount at Fossil Rim. You will absolutely not go wrong staying at this location.

Very quiet and close to Fossil Rim. Hiking trails and saw lots of deer on the property. Saw some hummingbirds too. House was roomy and very relaxing.

Perfection
We chose to stay here for a birthday "vacay" for our five year old son, along with our sever year old daughter. It was an absolutely perfect balance of relaxation and exploration. You truly have to see the property and the land to appreciate its beauty. Sandra was an incredible host-I cannot emphasize that enough! She did a fun safety pledge with the kids, helped us map out trails to explore, and did everything to help us make the most of our stay. We all cannot wait to return!

Wonderful place
We had a great time in this amazing ranch, we could not have found better place to spend a long weekend. The house is perfect for a family with 3 kids, and has everything you need. There are several trails to walk and enjoy the views, the environment, watching birds...we were lucky enough to visit during bluebonnet season. Flowers were so beautiful! Our 3 kids were happy to feed the goats, they would not have missed it! They already asked when we would go back. Their favorite place was goat cave, but enjoyed a lot fossil search as well. Dinosaur Valley is close and Safari park `s entrance is just 5 minutes, but this ranch offers so much, you don` t need to leave at all. We will definitely come back!

Beyond my expectations-fantastic house-the spa, birding from bed, exotic animals only steps away
OK. A friend of ours works on the ranch, which is how we knew about it. But we were amazed upon arrival, even after her description. The house was lovely. Beautifully decorated with interesting books, art, pieces of nature that tied it to the outdoor surroundings. Fields of bluebonnets about to pop (we were a week or 2 early for the wildflowers) and a 3 minute walk takes you to the border of the Fossil Rim Exotic Wildlife Preserve, from where you can see large African deer up close, and giraffe and zebra in the distance. 26 miles of hiking trails and mowed paths (we covered a lot of this), with spiritual sites, caves, ledges, cliffs, and lots of fossils to find. The house itself had a fantastic kitchen for creating wonderful meals with another couple or family. And the picture of that "indoor soaking pool" says it all. We were in it every day. Lovely with the candles on the rock wall behind and view into the yard out the patio door. The bedrooms had really cool locations - one with a skylight and patio/deck, so that you could actually "bird from bed". We saw the last of the Cedar Waxwings in the morning, and Sandhill Cranes flying overhead, returning north. The other is a beautiful loft room up a ladder, with a relaxing living room in between. Oh, and there's also a sauna - though we didn't try that. We were here 2 nights and then moved on to stay at one High Hope Ranch's other accommodations, equally beautiful and unique - the Mata'zamo House on the Cliff. We went alone this time, but it would be a great place to enjoy with some friends - a plan in our future.

Amazing Property Only Surpassed by Awesome Staff!
My friend and I were looking for a place to take our girlfriends for Valentine's Day to surprise them (with our dogs too). They are best friends but live in different cities so we rarely get to see each other. We started out by finding the Fossil Rim park since we are all animal lovers. Next came finding a place to stay in the area, which is when we came across Kasa Casa. After a few days of deliberating, we jumped on Kasa Casa. We arrived and not only was the property everything we expected and more but Sandy was so awesome and helpful with everything. She even helped us surprise the girls since we arrived at different times. The beds are extremely comfortable and each room has it's bonuses. We slept in the "Crow's Nest" which has a beautiful view out of the circular window at sunset. The Master is perfect with a window in the ceiling for star gazing at night! The house is a lot bigger than we expected with tons of room for relaxing and just hanging out. We played card games at the table wile enjoying a glass of wine. We sat out on the back porch, front porch, and balcony for hours talking and enjoying the beautiful scenery around us. The property backs up to Fossil Rim so we were able to walk about 20 feet and observe zebras from afar. It was really nice to have a full kitchen so we could cook all our meals there. We took a short trip to Brookshire's to do some shopping for the weekend. The property is huge and we did a lot of hiking around to see all the cool spots they have to offer. We hung out at the Star Pad during sunset to see the beautiful view, took a hike around Stone Loop which looked like a Texas Stone Henge! The best thing by far was The Goat Cave. It's just a mile or two from the house and definitely worth the hike! While on the trip my friend and I were throwing the football around. His wedding ring flew off when he went to catch a pass. We probably spent 10 hours on the trip looking for this ring in the grass. Sandy and Chandler from the property were extremely helpful in trying to help us find the missing ring. Someone they knew had a metal detector but wouldn't be back in town until Monday (we were leaving Sunday). We received a message from them Monday morning that they were able to go out with the metal detector and actually FOUND THE RING! I couldn't believe that not only did they take the time to help us look but they actually found it and are sending it back to him. We will be back!

Romantic, fun, spiritual and relaxing experience
This place is very tranquil and peacefully and has something to offer for everyone. I enjoyed the spa, the kitchen and the coffee in the mornings looking at the sunrise; My husband loved the animals and the hiking trails. As a family, we all have something to do and as soon we were leaving we felt nostalgia for all the memories that were behind. The workers are so nice, they make you feel at home, the garden with Robert and Brandi, Emmy and Robert and of course Sandy, they all are so kind, we will miss this place since we spent a month in here. Very much recommended.

Simply AMAZING!!!
We booked this trip to get a secluded get-away, and it was just perfect for that! The property had so much to offer (gorgeous hiking, goat feeding, small fishing pond (where my daughter caught her first fish!), super close proximity to Fossil Rim, and a peaceful and serene vibe that was so relaxing our whole family! We also loved the Kasa Casa house itself! Stocked with everything you would need, lots of space, and a quirky hot tub in the middle of the living room - who doesn't love that?!? We absolutely loved it and will be back!

Nothing Better
This is our second time here. I must say that this property and the owners are second to none in hospitality, relaxation and positive energy! Great soaks, sauna sessions, hikes, conversations without TV and BOOKS that will talk to your spirit. If I don't stop writing now, you will get a whole novel about our stay. Book now but don't take our weekend!(jk)

Awesome Family Getaway
Kasa Casa is a beautiful, clean, lovingly decorated, and excellently managed guest house. We appreciated Sandra's hospitality and the amenities and information available. (Hot tub! Sauna! Board games! Puzzles! Kitchen supplies! And more!) We enjoyed a hike with the kids, checking out the fascinating features of the property, like the stone circle and goat cave. The kids had fun feeding the goats. I enjoyed coffee and a book out on the porch with a beautiful view before me. There was so much to do, all of it relaxing and refreshing. We are already talking about coming back with more family members in the future. The proximity to Fossil Rim and Dinosaur State Park is incredible!

A great family getaway!
The High Hope ranch family was friendly, welcoming and very accommodating. We had a large family gathering and booked Habari & Kasa Casa. It was everything that we had hoped for. There is something for everyone. If you want to just relax in comfort, away from the hustle and bustle, it is perfect for that. If you want to go hiking, see wildlife and discover really cool fossils, it is perfect for that (I definitely recommend going down through Goat Cave and down the Woods Trail). If you want to read books or play games, the houses are stocked with plenty of both. The ranch is just a few minutes away from the entrance to Fossil Rim Wildlife Center which boasts over 50 different species of wildlife from around the world (if you have never seen a baby giraffe running around on awkward and wobbly legs, you need to go). I would definitely recommend the High Hope Ranch, and you would be hard-pressed to find a better group of people to work with. My family will definitely be returning.

Perfect getaway
The house, the ranch and everyone involved with the property are absolutely amazing. If you are looking for a perfect spot to relax and enjoy nature you cannot find a more appropriate location. We highly recommend for a romantic or family escape. The house is all the amenities you could ask for and beautifully decorated. The outside porches and sundecks are great for enjoying the fresh air and star gazing. There are plenty of trails / ranch roads to explore. Fossil Rim Wildlife Refuge is just moments away (the property adjoins the Refuge) and has an incredible amount of wildlife to enjoy. The property team are amazing and extremely accommodating. My only issue with rating this property as highly as it deserves to be is that we want to return again soon and I don't want others to discover this hidden gem!!! :-) Seriously a perfect 10!! You will not regret booking this property!

3rd Annual Family Mini Vaca at High Hope Ranch
One of our best trips yet. Every year we get our brood together and come for a mini family vaca while kiddos are out of school. We love to stay at the Mata'Zamo house but this year ended up in the Kasa Casa and it was amazing!!! We enjoyed all the comforts from home as Sandy and her crew have the house fully stocked for us. We so enjoy every trip from relaxing in the quiet, to grilling under the stars, coffee on the balcony in morn with the deer, fun family game nights, chilling on the patio, hikes on the trails. Fossil Rim this trip was exceptionally fun riding in the back of our truck. But I have to say the house was an awesome surprise btwn the hot tub, the play area for the kids, the patio for the adults. Loved the outdoor showers in morn and at night for the stars! We will be building one at home. :) The best, besides the fam time :), was the insanely amazing sight of seeing the giraffe practically in our backyard as we did a sunset walk. We were able to stand right next to them and gaze, like a safari, it was awesome!! Plus all the other animal sights, the kiddos love it. We will definitely be back next year!! Thank you to Sandy and her crew for another wonderful vacation! Love from our fam to yours.

Habari, Kasa Casa, Mata Zamo Review
We rented all three houses for our stay (Habari, Kasa Casa, Mata Zamo). We showed up with 8 adults and 7 kids under 8 to a perfect setting. We had enough room for 4 to 5 more people but we like to spread out. Sandra and Krystyna let us bring our Kabota 4 wheel that made getting between the houses a little easier and also allowed us easy access to the Texas Stonehenge, the Bat Cave, and the valley overlook. For adults and older children these sites are accessible by walking but the Kubota was the ticket for us. We planned on going into town for our dinners but liked it so much on the ranch we cooked all meals there – steaks and burgers on the grill a couple of nights and leftover tacos the final night. Fossil Rim, Creation Museum and Dinosaur Park are just down the road making the location very convenient and some of the adults went into town on Friday night to watch the basketball game at Hollywood and Vine. Kids saw lots of deer, loved to watch the tarantulas crossing the farm roads, and joining in the evening goat feeding. Sandra and Krystyna were great hosts. Would highly recommend for a family reunion or grab the Kasa Casa or Mata Zamo house for a quite couple retreat. Thanks ladies! We had a wonderful time…

The four of us had an excellent escape. Plenty to do even with rainy weather.
Directions to the property were spot on. The house was beautiful and very clean, stocked with everything we needed. The weather was unusually rainy which made the hot tub even more enjoyable. Sandy is an excellent host going above and beyond in every way to ensure our comfort. We especially enjoyed the great assortment of books and music. Looking forward to returning soon and exploring the property further! Thanks Sandy!

Zen Getaway
Our family absolutely loved this place. The indoor hot tub was great to keep the kids busy while mom and dad relaxed in the afternoon or as a place to relax after the kids went to bed. The loft bedroom was perfect for our two kids to share and we loved stargazing through the skylight over the master bed. Best of all were the outdoor showers. Perfect on a hot day, especially after spending the day hiking and swimming in the Paluxy River. Highly recommend!
