Carve fresh powder and explore groomed slopes with a backdrop of the breathtaking Grand Teton range at this laid-back ski resort in Alta.

Grand Targhee Resort is a stunning ski resort amid the Caribou-Targhee National Forest, on the border of Idaho and Wyoming. Situated on the western slope of the Tetons, Grand Targhee Resort is famed for its feathery powder snow, family-friendly terrain and unhurried atmosphere.

Begin your day at the cosy Rendezvous Lodge, where you can rent ski equipment or trial some new gear before purchase. Head out onto the slopes and explore 95 runs of beginner, intermediate, advanced and expert trails across 2,600 acres (1,050 hectares) of skiable terrain. Private and group lessons are available at the resort, to help you advance your skill level and explore the wide selection of trails.

Beginners will love the magic carpet conveyor lift and gentle slopes, whereas experienced skiers and boarders can carve up the more challenging runs. With a majority of blue-graded slopes, this ski resort is ideal for fine-tuning your technique and enjoying relaxed intermediate runs. Practice slides, tricks and aerial jumps on the exciting Grand Targhee terrain park. Convenient quad chairs and double chairs provide easy access to the slopes.

When you’re ready for a break, head to the village for a snack or a drink from one of the resort’s restaurants, cafés and stores. Luxurious slope-side or village lodgings offer a wide range of après-ski activities, including hot tubs, a heated outdoor saltwater pool and a gym. Rent a pair of snowshoes and explore the woods and backcountry, or take a ride on the all-terrain Snowcat and be delivered to untouched glades of fresh powder.

Grand Targhee Resort is located in Alta, Wyoming. Idaho Falls Airport is a 1.5-hour drive away, while Jackson Hole Airport is just over an hour’s drive away. Shuttle buses, taxis and rental cars can be booked at this airport. The resort’s lifts run between late November and late April. Don’t miss the chance to see live music with a backdrop of majestic mountain scenery at the Targhee Music Festival and Targhee Bluegrass Festival, both held annually in summer. Explore trails on horseback or with a mountain bike in the warmer months.
