About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire cabin to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

O Me, O Mio (Rustic Cabin near AuSable River and ORV/ATV/Snowmobile trail heads)

A rustic, permalog style cabin that is suited to accommodate up to nine. This is a cabin to help disconnect from the hustle and bustle of our chaotic lives. There is limited cell signal, no internet and no local or cable channels. The cabin is pet friendly, as I believe our pets are an extension of our families and should get to vacation with everyone rather than boarded (dogs only are allowed, see note about pets at the end of this description). Primary source of heat is a furnace. There is an electric fireplace in the living room. In the summer there is a window AC unit at the cabin and a fan for the loft (it does get hot up there).

The cabin is very close to the AuSable River where you can easily launch boats, canoes and more. The ORV trail head is just a 1/4 mile down the road. This is also the perfect cabin for nearby hunting, fishing, hiking and trail riding. Be sure to keep an eye out for an eagle or two. Also had deer tracks in the yard.

HOME SPACE:
Master bedroom has a queen bed. Living room has a 2 hide-a-beds. The loft has two full size beds. (CAUTION: There are cables that keep the roof straight in the loft on the floor. Please use caution so there are no injuries.) Room enough for 9 people. Just about everything is provided for you (linens, towels, fully stocked kitchen, etc). Not sure if I have something you need, ask me.

There is only a 20 gallon hot water heater (that means quick showers with a full house). A furnace is available for heat. It is fueled by propane. There is an electric fireplace for ambiance (please do not use this to help heat the cabin at night). A window AC unit is installed during the summer in the kitchen and a fan for the loft and one for the main floor.

CELL SIGNAL & TELEVISION:
The location of the cabin is set in the Huron National Forest and it is difficult to get any signals through the trees for WiFi and television. I have been unsuccessful at tuning in any local channels. I have opted not to have internet or cable television at this location as this is a cabin to disconnect from the world as mentioned in the description. Some cell providers do receive good signal here and you may experience great connectivity to the point emails and messages still come through. Movies and games are provided at the cabin for “rainy days” and there is plenty of nature to explore. Maps and guides are provided at the cabin for various exploration/activities that allow you to enjoy the natural habitat surrounding the cabin.

PROPERTY:
The cabin sits on under a half acre of land. There is limited space for parking multiple vehicles so I recommend carpooling as much as you can. If you are planning to bring snowmobiles in the winter, please note the property can probably accommodate one trailer. There is no actual driveway so feel free to park on the lawn but not by the sheds up front (my septic tank an the septic pipe goes through that area). There is a firepit for your use I just encourage you to please use caution and safety at all times during use and when you are done with it each night.

** PLEASE NOTE: LARGE CAMPERS AND TRAILERS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED. THERE IS NOT ENOUGH ROOM TO MANEUVER THEM ON THE TRAILS TO THE CABIN. **

NEIGHBORHOOD:
This cabin is located in a small rural community. There are several neighbors, it is not secluded but gives that vibe. Did I mention I have the best neighbors?? Well I do! They will treat you just like part of the neighborhood and welcome you in. Please be respectful of noise level during the week as my neighbors do have to get up for work pretty early. The neighbors behind me do have two dogs who are not leashed when they are outside. Please keep an eye on your dog(s) at all times.

NOTE ABOUT PETS: I am not held responsible for any injuries or damages caused by/to your pet. Your pet is your responsibility and must be under control at all times. You must clean up after your pet. Leashes, food/water bowls, poop bags and beds are provided. Please keep your dog(s) off of the furniture. They must be crated if left alone for over an hour. Please do not bring your dog if it has any fleas or illnesses. Your dog(s) must be licensed and up to date on shots.

FEES: Again there is an additional $25 charge per guest over 6 guests (no more than 9 people at this location). There is a pet fee of $30. There is a $300 security deposit. This will be refunded upon departure if no damage has been found. If damage has been found it will be held pending investigation. Please note, if damage is found above 300.00 that amount will be due in full after a full investigation is completed. The costs of those items will be for replacement cost, not current value of the item.

Perfect location as it was walking distance from my family’s cottage. We have been tenting every other year and this was a great find for family overflow. Traci was great to communicate with And the property was clean and a joy to stay in. Rented for next year already !

Super stay in a cozy cabin
GREAT time in a vintage little cabin--loved the details. Host was SO HOSPITABLE and kind. She even texted me ideas for our stay in the area! It feels like a throwback to an earlier era, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! We're already talking about "next time"!

The host made sure we had everything we needed and was a pleasure to deal with, I forgot some valuables in the cabin and she not only retrieved it but is dropping them off to my home on her way to visit friends in the city!

Great cabin with all the comfort of home
The cabin is super cozy in a quiet little neighborhood in the woods. You have any kind of kitchen utensil to cook anything you want. The cabin has games, a fire pit and plenty of towels. I will rent here again.

Unplugged and taken back
This property was quiet and just big enough to be comfortable and close to one another. My girls are almost 4 and 2 and loved the nature found adventures everywhere. Traci was a great host and even went out of her way to obtain some firewood for us before arrived! The girls were in awe of the VHS tape and even more impressed with Toy Story. There are towels and linens for beds, extra chairs, movies, games, a playpen and a fully stocked kitchen, you could prepare almost anything with ease. We cannot wait to go back and think we have started a new family tradition.

Liked: Location, listing accuracy
Great Host
The cabin was super clean, and the host was very accommodating. The description of the cabin was a little off. Your definitely not isolated and surrounded by woods. Your smack in the dead center of a log cabin neighborhood. You have cabins right next to you, and all around you, not close to any woods until you get through the neighborhood. You get the secluded life with absolutely no phone service,, cable, or internet. Which is what I was looking for, but if you don’t want to see people as well, this is definitely not the place.

Get Away From it All!
This little spot was PERFECT for our family! As described in the listing, there is no cable or wifi, and that forced our kids to find other things to do like go outside and play. We were able to kayak on the Au Sable, and visited Lake Huron. We were originally going to bring our dog with us (the fact that he was allowed was one of the big draws for this spot!), but plans changed at home so he stayed behind with our oldest teenager. However, had we brought him, he would have had a wonderful time as well! It's a fantastic spot to just unwind and disconnect from the world, while connecting with family. Tracy was amazing to work with, very responsive and very kind. We will absolutely stay here again if we come back to the area. Just a note for information as you are planning your stay, the steps to the loft area are a very tight fit, and the outlet up there is across from the beds. So if you need a CPAP or anything like that, make sure your cord is long enough or bring an extension with you!
