Green Island is one of the most accessible islands in the Great Barrier Reef, just a 40 minute boat ride from Cairns. You can do a day trip or stay overnight in the resort. Green Island is great for snorkeling and other water sports like parasailing and windsurfing. There's also an eco-rainforest boardwalk and a croc sanctuary. We really liked the Shangri-La. Loved the spacious lobby and the room. The view of the Marina and the water as well as the mountains was spectacular. The apartment has no elevator. We stayed at 3rd floor and was hard to carry heavy luggage to it. The AC is not cool at all. I don't recommend the 3rd floor living especially during the hot summer due to AC inefficiency.
