Horseshoe House hosted by St James Vacation Homes
This fabulous home is only available for Monthly Rentals 31+ days with the exception of Masters Week.
Turning into the drive for Horseshoe House, guests will immediately know that they're in for a treat. The sparkle of water peeks from behind the towering hardwoods that frame this sprawling 5-bedroom, 4-bath family paradise that sits on almost an acre of lakefront property. With over 150 feet of deep water frontage, views from this delightful vacation property are unparalleled and come from multiple vantage points: two screened porches, multi-level wraparound deck, walkout terrace, and a private dock - all facing southwest for soft sunset brilliance.
The spacious designer interior of Horseshoe House compliments its mile-wide views. Without a doubt, the gathering spots will be the kitchen, upper level living area, and screened porch, all connected by an open-concept floor plan that maximizes natural light and a panorama of Lake Oconee. The screened porch just might be the favorite “room” of the house, as it brings the outdoors in while offering shade and bug-free lounge time. Plop into a swiveling cushioned rattan chair or enjoy al fresco dining under the soft breeze of ceiling fans. (On quiet mornings or evenings, you might even see deer crossing the property; the home's wooded front yard is a frequented by a doe and her two fawns.) Two doors on either end of the porch lead to the living area with its vaulted wood beam ceiling, log fireplace, and large flatscreen TV with sound bar. There's enough seating for up to 8, including two pneumatic recliners that adjust with the touch of a button. A farmhouse table for 6 transitions the space to the dining area and is just a few steps away from the oversized island that anchors the kitchen and accommodates 7 barstools for mealtime overflow. Plenty of appliances are available for use: stovetop oven, microwave, side-by-side refrigerator, dishwasher, and two kinds of coffee makers (drip and Keurig). There's also a propane grill on the deck for lakeside BBQs. For a large crew, an ice machine is located the adjacent laundry room, where a full-size washer and dryer wait for water-logged swimsuits.
Also on the main level are the master suite and two guest bedrooms. The master suite boasts a king bed, office area, flatscreen TV, and storage closet. It connects to the wraparound deck and also has a private entrance to the second screened porch area, complete with oversized lounge chairs, ceiling fans, and a swing! The en suite bathroom is just as spacious, offering a double-sink vanity, jetted soaker tub, and spa shower. On the opposite wing of the main level are two guest bedrooms, both with comfortable queen beds, storage closets, and flatscreen TVs. They share a jack-and-jill full bath with a spa shower.
The terrace level features an enormous bunk room that begs for kids and teenagers to enjoy its amenities: 3 bunk beds, 2 queen-sized sleeper sofas, 2 recliners, ping pong table, flatscreen TV, storage closet stocked with life vests, and a full bath. There is also a side-by-side refrigerator (identical to the one in the kitchen) for snack and drink storage – perfect for a quick refuel when swimming off the dock. A second master bedroom is located just down the hall and comes with a king bed, reading chair, flatscreen TV, and a private bathroom. A secondary staircase connects to the main level.
The walkout terrace level provides more outdoor seating and is an ideal spot to reminisce in the rocking chairs. It's also steps away from a hammock, outdoor shower, and the private dock.
With so much at-home coziness, guests may not have much reason to leave Horseshoe House, but for those who want to explore the community, there is plenty to offer! The gem of Lake Oconee is, quite literally, at your backdoor with 19,000 acres of water to explore by boat, ski, kayak, or canoe. If you're feeling a little water-logged, 21 miles of hiking and biking trails wind throughout Reynolds. For less strenuous entertainment, there are 10 on-site restaurants among the Reynolds properties, each one meticulously designed to accommodate a variety of palates. Be sure to check about guest access during Covid, as some venues may be restricted to members or residents.
Just outside the gates are plenty of restaurants and retail shops. Right off Linger Longer Road, stock up at Publix, try one of the blends from PJ's Coffee of New Orleans, or peruse the charming home accents at The French Hare. South on Highway 44, Harmony Crossing is home to some of our favorites, including LaLore Café and 44 Marketplace. We also recommend visiting the historic districts for a unique shopping and dining experience. Be sure to check out the local events, festivals, and farmer's markets, too!
