River House on the River

Completely remodeled in 2017, this two bedroom, one bath cabin is on the Gunnison River. The cabin is on 2.5 acres of riverfront property and across a footbridge that will take you to the Water Park (my balance isn't great and with no handrails, I do not use it). The Dos Rios Grill and Golf Course (open to the public) is a lovely .5 mile walk. A great spot for kayaking, trout fishing spot, and an excellent base camp for exploring the Gunnison valley. Located just miles from Hartman Rocks Rec area, Blue Mesa Reservoir, 2 miles from downtown Gunnison, Colorado, 1/2 mile from Dos Rios Golf Course and 30 miles from Crested Butte and Mt. Crested Butte. Enjoy skiing, rafting, fly fishing, and biking right out your front door! We are in the flight path, but it's Gunnison airport, not DIA. I think the planes are cool to watch when they do fly over. 

This property is shared with The Aspen House. All hammocks, firepits, and picnic tables are there for the two homes to share. There is a lot of room, so play nice and enjoy this park-like atmosphere!

Go with flow along the Gunnison
Everything you need to kick back and relax. So easy to get to hiking, fishing and the water park. Downtown has great food options! Access to Crested Butte, Monarch and even Salida were great. Closure of the Hwy 50 Bridge over Blue Mesa didnt mess with the relaxation of the river and the comfort of the River House. THANK YOU Jenn for your flexibility and understanding.

Sit back and relax
The River House is truly right on the river. The home has expansive windows that allow you to see the tall pine trees and beautiful clear river. If it were summer it would have been a perfect fly fishing spot.

Stunning Little Cabin On The River!

Very nice. Right on the river.
Great location. Open the bedroom windows and and fall fast asleep as the Gunnison river burbles by just 20 feet away. Wide frontage on the river provides excellent trout fishing right at your door. Hiking, museums and every wholesome outdoor activity imaginable are nearby. Enjoy!

Perfect for staying right on the Gunnison River
If your goal is to stay right on the river without having to camp, this is the perfect place for you. There are planes that fly directly overhead but the place is so serene that the disturbance that the planes cause is easily overlooked. I highly recommend staying here.

Great place, great location!
The location of this property was great! Next to the river, rare privacy! The house was well equipped and had great views from the windows. Even if it rained, we didn’t feel closed in. Downtown Gunnison is 5 minutes away. All kinds of hiking and biking routes are close. Crested Butte is about 40 minutes away. It’s worth the drive to Crested Butte and Black Canyon of the Gunnison just to see the scenery along the way. Jenny Lain, the manager was great!

Summer Family Trip
Absolutely loved our stay at this property! We loved being right on the river and so close to town. My daughter enjoyed the swing, hammock, and our nightly camp fires. We even caught a couple of small trout! We had a little mishap with the stove but it was resolved quickly. Would definitely recommend this property!

Resting and Relaxing
This was the second straight year my wife and I stayed at this property. It's quiet, lovely, but still close enough to town to be convenient to the grocery store, Walmart and all major highways. The grill was out of propane when we arrived but I called Jenny and had a new bottle on the grill within a few hours! Will definitely plan on staying again! **One problem though-for those who like to watch television, they have recently installed a ROKU stick for the television. The stick kept overheating and after about 25 minutes of watching, you would start to get warnings popping up on the television telling you the stick was overheating (and it was! It was hot to the touch!). To solve the problem, you had to turn the tv off and pull the stick out and let it cool down (which took 30+minutes) but then, around 25 minutes later, the stick started overheating again. It was hard to watch television. I finally came up with the idea of using a small fan that I had brought with me, putting it on the small shelf below the tv and aiming it right at the stick. This worked great! No overheating!

Loved the fact that we were on the river bank - the sound of the rushing water was so soothing, and it was nice to sit around the campfire right at the water's edge! The house had all the amenities we needed, and it was clean and well maintained. Our only issue was that we ran out of propane for the grill on the very first night and did not have a replacement tank so we were not able to use the grill. My only other suggestion would be that there be a user's guide in the information booklet for the television. But thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to come again!

Great little cottage
We very much enjoyed our stay at the river cabin. The location is awesome. River is steps from the door. The town is just a short drive from the property. House is adorable and very clean. The only negative I could say is the shower. It could use a deep cleaning. The edges around door and inside of shower pan are either orange and crusty or mildewy. I’m a bit of a clean freak though. Everything else is very clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend this property to anyone traveling to Gunnison and we are hoping to stay here again in the future.

Great place on the river!
This property is right on the river. My husband caught quite a few trout on the river. Beautiful view from the house! We rented both houses on this property due to amount of people in the family. Only gave 4 out 5 on cleanliness due to a ceiling fan needed dusted and the floors mopped in a few areas. We would definitely stay here again .

Peaceful Retreat
We absolutely loved our stay at the River House; perfect location for our family vacation. The house is clean, cozy, and relaxing. We loved being next to the river and caught several trout. Lovely Place to Stay
We absolutely loved our time at the river house! The weather in mid summer is perfect for leaving the bedroom windows open at night, listening to the sounds of the rushing river. The house is very clean and cozy and well stocked. It was a pleasant retreat to return to after sightseeing or activities and prepare and enjoy meals at the house and/or sit by the fire pit right next to the river. We even at one point saw a baby bear and a doe and baby deer. I definitely want to come back and stay longer in the future.
