"We stayed for three nights and it was marvellous. It is a larger, more hotel like ryokan but still has a very tranquil atmosphere, and was great for families like ours. There are two public onsen — they switch between men and women daily — and both are spacious and serene. It was such an experience soaking in the onsen under the stars, looking out onto the mountains. The rooms are spacious and the private balcony bath which fills with hot spring water at the touch of a button is a lovely touch. The buffet breakfast and dinner were both very good for buffet offerings. The staff were friendly and went above and beyond to help."

"It is a 5-star hotel with 5-star service :). If you miss the scheduled (only a few times during the day) pickup at the train station, just go to the cable car station and call the hotel. They will send a van to pick you up in less than 10 min. For travellers who use data only SIM plan, make sure you have app (we use Skype to make the call) that can make international phone call."

"Amazing hotel with stunning views of Lake Ashi. All-inclusive resort style, with Breakfast and dinner buffet included. Onsen with indoor and open air pools, all necessary toiletries provided, toothbrush/toothpaste, razors, q tips, combs, amazing skin care products! The Hakone Ropeway is just a 3-5 minute walk. It was a very relaxing and rejuvenating stay. Definitely recommend and would love to stay here again!"

"Loved the hotel! Be aware public Japanese baths mean sharing the hot springs experience with no clothing. It is separated by gender. We picked the private baths. When we wanted 3 different baths per member of the family, they suggested we only book 1 private bath and we could wear our bathing suits. It was great. There is a room with different types of massage chairs- one for whole body, another for feet, and another for feet and legs. We picked the half board meals. The first night was element with a guy who spoke English and explained each elegant course to us. It made the meal extra-special. The second night, we had a different waiter who didn’t speak English at all and only provided us a few minutes to finish each course apologizing before shoving each course on our crowded table. It didn’t feel special at all. I’m not sure what the hotel requires of their staff, so perhaps the first night we were just lucky. After eating dinner, our futon beds were taken out of the closet and were made with linens and pillows (we wondered what we would sleep on when we walked in). The town was a 10 minute walk and was so cute with tons of specialty shops and local restaurants. We took a short train trip to Lake Ashi and took a boat tour where you could hop off/on the boat at little towns. We stopped at a small town with a museum. Inside was a panoramic view of Mt Fuji which you could also see on the boat. I highly recommend this hotel and Hakone. "

"A traditional hotel with an abundance of old-world charm. We were so impressed by how well-maintained and clean this hotel was, as well as the warm friendly greetings we regularly received from staff who were positioned throughout the front lobby. Service and hospitality were top class. Buffet breakfast and dinner were great – a wide variety of choices were available. Family members with dietary requirements were generally able to find something that suited them and food was well-labelled. Visited Hakone for the woodwork (Yosegi Zaiku) rather than the hot springs so unfortunately cannot comment on the onsens. The walk from Hakone-Yumoto Station to the hotel can easily be done in around 20-30 minutes depending on how quickly you go. It is a very pleasant walk especially along the Sukumo River. However, if you are carrying a lot of luggage, a taxi would be the better option. Overall, this was a beautiful, well-run establishment and we really enjoyed our stay here."
